£800 to spend on a Core i7 rig

I need suggestions on parts. I am only upgrading the necessary hardware (CPU, motherboard and RAM. Everything else is fine. I would like to get the MSI Eclipse X58 because I've seen it's a great overclocker and it hit 4.1GHz on the 920 on air. Core i7 920? And OCZ Gold 6GB 2000MHz?

Is it really nessecary to go for a I7 rig? They run insanely hot for my liking, even if the 'safe' temp is 100c. Perhaps a qx950? Of course dont quote me on this. I'm no professional system builder. However I would recommend DDR3, its fucking dirt cheap on some english sites, not sure about american.

Well seeing as he stated "£" in the amount he wishes to spend i'm pretty sure he is UK based.

Maybe look at a DFI board, I gather they are the best boards to overclock on at the moment.

DFI DK x58 board is AWESOME OCer (this board has a high RMA rate, but IMO it is worth it)

Another GREAT board is Gigabyte ud3/ud4p/ud5/extreme... IMO get the ud4p if you go Gig... SystemViper got i7 920 at 4.6xx Ghz with it! (low RMA rate too )

RAM, get Crucials 6gb 1066 or SuperTalents 1333... They Overclock like hell... for ddr3 RAM, performance boost is really unoticeable after 1600 cl8 (which both of these RAM OC to without being a pro of OCing)

Get a S1283V from Xigmatek or a TRUE 120 uhhh no not TRUE, there is a better for cheaper... forgot the name though, will look for it... but the S1283V for it's price is best

There you go, you get a very good one and this will probably cost you something like 600 pounds

Try having a look around this site http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?PAT-6GDDR3 for Ram and also www.scan.co.uk for motherboards, i find they have a good selection for good prices.

And also at that Ram, they are what i got and i love them, i haven't properly overclocked yet as i am still learning but i have read that they do the job great and are what i consider cheap for 6gb.

Also a plus on the DFI board, I did have to RMA my first one, but it really isn't that much hassle.

But if you want better than s1283V, or if its just not available in your area, the P.M is the best way to go... I still prefer s1283V for price/performance though

P.S: that RAM you show Conflict is very good, but how much more is it then the 1066 crucials or 1333 SuperTalents?

I think the 15 pounds are worth it...
Get the DFI DK or Gig ud4p IMO the UT IMO is waste of money

Yea that is my opinion also about the LP is just not worth the extra money compared to the DK board.

Why are you doing this to me in times of recession nonetheless! Tell me, what GPU do you have? can't you invest in GPU with the money saved?

I tell you, after 1600 cl8, you won't see shit of a difference in RAM... I freaking 2ghz cl8 RAM would be practically the same freaking performance... Tell me how much you're paying for them at least ...
