Duke Nukem Developer 3D Realms Shuts Down

"A very reliable source close to Duke Nukem Forever developer 3D Realms today confirmed to Shacknews that the development studio has shut down.
The closure came about as a result of funding issues, our source explained, with the shut down said to affect both 3D Realms and the recently resurrected Apogee. Employees of both entities have already been let go."

This game has been overhyped for way too long. I see an epic fail coming. I expect Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust to be a better game than this (that's how low the bar is).

So the game went with the studio? No one else is picking it up? I'm not surpised the studio went down. This game started off with the unreal engine, but they took sooo long it became outdated and had to change the whole engine! I have waiting for this game since around 2001 when it was first announced!!!

Take Two can always pick it up as they have the rights to the game, they cut off funding to 3D Realms, i guess due to wasting money for a game that hasn't been released yet in 12 years.

jeez... has it been that long, almost a generation and the game hasn't been released. now that is very poor. I remember the original and that was on my 486 or maybe pentium 1, so i guess it has been that long.

yeah but its been restarted in development from the bottom a few times

i even read somewhere they scrapped a finished game just to do it in another engine

it was originaly on quake engine moved to unreal engine in house engine unreal engine 3.0 in house engine i dunno thats the ones i heard it was on before
