I don't really see what the point of these expensive lan cards are. Yeah if you playing over a local area network it would be awesome. But if your playing online you still have to wait for the server and other players computer to respond. Is it really gonna give you that big of an advantage? I think not.

eh i never understood the purpose of lan cards period, if you have a 100mbps ethernet onboard, whats the difference with a 100mbps ethernet port on a card?

the only thing these cards offer, is a dedicated processor for networking. even my onboard has task offloading, which does the same thing.

These would have been a hit in the pentium 3 days, when CPU power was at a premium... but not in todays multicore world.

My main gripe about this is if you buy an enthusiast mainboard shouldnt you recieve an above average network component, Most manufactures include a better audio chipset (which is great) but for the price premium id like to see improvement to ever sub-system on board..
