Hi ppl,

I just replaced stock cooler of my HD4890 with AC Twin Turbo ( however only RAM heatsinks can be attached to it , other 2 heatsinks cant be attached because new PCB have those other chips in middle of the board. so far, AC Twin Turbo is not compatible with HD4890 ).

everything else is fine. but I m only worried about these 2 temp ( Slave 1 and Slave 2, whts the Qmark before it? ) highlighted in below image.

Those temp. were 65c and 67C respectively. now its 83C and 84 on 2d clocks. Its because no heatsink attached to it now. ( previously it has stock cooler attached on it ). is this temp. that important to maintain? then I have to buy smaller heatsinks and thermal tape for it. let me know ppl, so I can workout something for it :).

You absolutely need to put heatsinks on those chips. I wouldn't run the card without them. If you have to use the card now, put the stock heatsink back on for now so you don't kill your card.

I used smaller heatsinks on the VRMs with an additional fan directly above them. They did very little. Run furmark and you will see the temp spike to 120C.

If you look carefully at the stock heatsink you will realise how much metal is actually in contact with the VRMs.

Heres a post with more detail

I also decided to take pictures yesterday, to highlight the problem as I switched back to the stock cooler. I'll get them uploaded.

so, wht would u suggest for vram cooling? I dont want to use stock cooler as it is noisy, and AC Twin turbo giving me some nice temp. drops against stock cooler. only problem is regulators cooling.

I've been told that this

with a fan works well. But the size of it means it'd only work with some coolers.

I posted a similar thread regarding and warning people about the TwinTurbo on a 4890. VRM's get to high and the card locks up.

OOh that cooler has that heatsink ?...

I had this card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161268

and put the MUSASHI on it and left the Reg heatsink on it.

Although what you have to do with the MUSASHI is to take about7 of the fins very carefully so the heat sink would fit correctly as the fins are very easily damaged + the thing on the end of the pipes are glued on which takes even more time..

Although mine is ready done so just need that heatsink HAHA.

And if your saying that cooler will have that part i'll buy it lol.. Zalman one right ?.. Any chance you have a link for it ?.

Its a standalone part. A few £s in the UK. It works with any cooler which doesnt cover the VRMs.

So how would some one in the US get one :p ?.... website ?...
