Hi everyone!

Since there is often a load of discussion about this or that brand, I reckon a solid discussion thread on brands and their product lines would have potential here.

Lots of things have been said (read: shouted) without any argumentation, so some rules are in place here:

  • Name brand and product series when discussing something. For instance, OCZ makes memory, gaming products, SSD's and a lot more. Be specific at what sucks.
  • Posts without arguments are not helpful. "Corsair sucks!" does not help anyone.
  • Feel free to also post which brands you will buy again, but keep in mind the previous points.

For starters, I'll give you some of my own experiences.

OCZ, Neural Impulse Actuator (or NIA). Will not buy again.
This brainwave based control device was potentially one of the coolest inventions of last year. The idea was amazing, actually using it was beyond hard.
Supplied drivers were full of bugs and lacked functionality. 64-bit drivers took months. The device suffers enormously from interference.
Anyone who is not smart or patient enough to mingle on the OCZ forums will not get this working out of the box and even if you did, you might have had to wait months for proper drivers like me.
Conclusion: good potential, badly put on the market

Coolermaster, 120mm fans and SilentPro 500w modular power supply. Will not buy again.
Not entirely bought, the 120mm fans Coolermaster provided with the case I bought are crap. Not only do they move very little air with a relatively loud sound, 2 of them made ticking sounds out of the box.
Now for the power supply. I have never before heard of a 500w PSU with only 408w on the 12v rails. At least, not from a "respectable" brand.
While the unit's not entirely bad (this PSU is bloody silent!) I expected otherwise. This PSU was also the last thing I bought in a store without checking specs on the web.

Club3D, GFX cards. Owned a Geforce 5900XT (long time ago) and a HD3450. Will not buy again.
Each time I look at a Club3D card, it just oozes "budget".
Club3D was the only company to be using the "XT" extension for budget cards. The 5900XT was a crippled 5900. Not only did if perform like ass due to a lack of shaders, it was loud and hot.
Only good thing was that it was actually cheap.
The HD3450 was a passively cooled card, kinda HTPC style. Unfortunately, Club3D's passive cooling on this card stank. 90 degrees in a normally ventilated case is bull.

i have only had 1 problem with brand and that is...
OCZ-My reason is because when i got excited about getting my stealthxstream 500w psu..arrived at door then when i unpacked it and got it installed,it didn't work...Spent 2hours trying get it work but then it was clear the psu was faulty so i got it RMA A.S.A.P and swapped it for corsair CX 400w which i am happy with right now.I will never buy a ocz psu again

Following up with some will-buy-agains:

Watercool, Heatkiller 3.0 LT CPU cooling block.
Pretty easy really. This is a solid built block with good cooling characteristics for a relatively good price. That is, if you can get your hand on one where you live.
I might be biased since this is the first waterblock I have ever owned, but it does the job.

Swiftech MCP355 pump.
Bought this pump to replace my XSPC dual bay res + pump. Before I turned it on I thought my XSPC wasn't that bad.
...I have been convinced. Pressure and flow both good, not too much sound either. This pump packs a punch.
Used in combination with an XSPC top.

Coolermaster Centurion 590 case w/ CM690 windowed sidepanel.
OK, I've grown into a fanboy on this one, but this case currently houses a lot!
Cable management properties are not too bad, 5.25" all the way from top to bottom are ideal for lots of different setups. Fanholes can be populated with several different sizes of fans.
My WC setup is currently all inside the case, with a DVD drive, fancontroller, cardreader and 3 HDD's. And it costs around €50~60.
The window is just damn stylish with it's upside-down "L" shape, and the fan in the sidepanel is mounted perfectly right to blow on my GFX.

XFX - i kno some people like them, but i've had 2 8800GT's from them die, as well as their customer support having taken 5 days to respond to my ticket.
Rosewill - Not my personal experience, but my bro bought a 500w from them for Pentium D(non oc'd), 2gb ram, x1650PRO and the PSU failed on him, as well as their service taking longer than he liked.

EVGA is my fav brand as of now, never had a problem with them, customer suppport is excellent. Even when i'd lost my SLI bridge for my 680i LT, i asked what it would cost to get another and they said they'd send me one for free. All other brands i will trust until i have a bad experience.

I feel rather lucky, I haven't really had any issues when buying products. I guess my name brand item that I did have issues with would put the company in the maybe category.

ASRock motherboards - K10N780X3SLI-WiFi:

I recently picked up a K10N780X3SLI-WiFi motherboard for a few reasons: 1) built in WiFi, I could finally ditch my cheap wireless PCI card 2) runs a true x16/x16 for SLI 3) good reviews - nothing bad really every said about this board.

When the motherboard came in, I could do anything with it except get it to accept video drivers. I struggled with the board for nearly 3 days, trying different methods and ending up with the same results. The customer service was on the ball and quick to respond; they said the board was faulty and to get a replacement. So I did and the new board works perfect except for reading my RAM speed correctly (easily fixed in BIOS).

I would entertain the idea of ASRock boards again, the one I have is built well and everything is easy to get to. I would however look into ASUS first, since I have had 3 boards from them without any issues.

408w isn't bad for a 500w power supply, I've seen worse and I've seen better. I've seen respectable brands with the same or worse.

Aerocool power supplies. I had a 550w Turbine power and it died a few weeks out of warranty. It didn't die gracefully either because the system still powered on which could have damaged components.

Toshiba computers. Bought a Tecra M9, it didn't come with any disks what so ever. I talked to their customer support before buying it and they told me I could get a recovery disk from them. I spent about 4 hours on the phone after it arrived and couldn't get a disk. I even looked online for drivers for that model of computer and there are none. Moreover, for supposedly being a "ruggedized computer" it didn't seem it.

Lenovo computers. 7 disks to reinstall Windows--bloatware mandatory.

HP computers. 6 disks to reinstall Windows--bloatware mandatory.

Dell computers. Serial numbers aren't specific to the machine which means wasting a considerable amount of time trying to narrow down their broad list of components to figure out what is actually in the machine.

Sony products. The only Sony product I have that still works are cheapo headphones. I've had everything from Playstations, to recievers, to disc/walkman die. They don't build anything to last.

I'm not inclined to buy any DFI or Gigabyte motherboards. They both have horrible BIOS/memory compatibility. I spent a day at least on either troubleshooting, RMAing parts, only to find out the BIOS are crap.

Linksys products. I bought their top of the line consumer router (WRT-600n) and it couldn't even manage to play Unreal Tournament 3 online smoothly. If I spend $250 on a router, I expect it to work brilliantly the first time.

Microsoft mice. My intellipoint was on the verge of dying only months after buying it. The other Microsoft mice I've used aren't special in any way. Never again.

I will be buying...
-Kingston memory: I can't name a single stick that arrived DOA or didn't work in any given motherboard. They may not be the fastest but they are almost always guarenteed to work. Not to mention the lifetime warranty.
-MSI: If you get in touch with the techsupport at USA, they are great. I've had lots of their boards and just a few problems.
-Asus: I only bought one board of theirs but it works fabulously out of the box.
-Intel/AMD: Lots of processors, zero dead ones.
-Klipsch: Awesome products and awesome tech/customer support. In fact, they have the most friendly customer service I ever had to contact.
-Enermax: Great power supplies all around. I've only had one failure which was covered under their 3 year warranty and it died gracefully (off and never back on--no chance of damaging anything).
-EVGA: I love 'em for their lifetime warranty. Zero DOA cards and zero returns so far.
-Scythe: Awesome cooling products albeit expensive.
-D-Link: Their customer service/support is crap but the products are generally good.
-SMC: They make excellent switches.

-Performance PCs: I go to them whenever I need a speciality table/part and love the fact that they'll sleeve everything for you (excellant quality sleeving at that).
-Systemax: Nothing bad about them except the price.

408w on a 12v rail is fine for a PSU. Do u think 12V is the only voltage ur pc uses???? what about 3.3v and 5v????? should they not be allowed 92w between them on a 500watt supply?

Compared: a Corsair HX520 has 480w on the 12v rail.
According to your theory, that's 480 out of 520 watts.

Do u think 12V is the only voltage ur pc uses????
No, but it feeds my video card, pump, harddisks, fans and several very important parts that are currently starving and screaming for more juice.

what about 3.3v and 5v????? should they not be allowed 92w between them on a 500watt supply?
The 5 and 3.3v lines combined are rated for 145watts on this particular 500w power supply.
145 + 408 != 500w. I know, ratings are scientific and all.

Also, it seems you were trying to ask a lot more questions but forgot to put the sentences in between the series of question marks.

The freezer 7 pro was terrible. The mounting was pathetic, well the pushpin in general, and it didn't keep my stuff cool at all.
