After two rebates, a very good deal.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121272. You could sell the games and it would be more like 149.98 and be faster than a 280 gtx.

Pros: Let me tell you a story about a lil card called the 4850... it made nvidia cry because it cost half the price for the same performance... the money saved was used to save the little town of ATI from the evil doers of Nvidia. They bought an E8400 and some DDR3 1333 to fight off the nasties.... the nvidia's extra 3 frames per second did nothing in the bloody battle. A little overclocking sent the Nvidia demons running in dispair as the little town of ATI rested peacefully for ever... thank you 4850!
Cons: none... you guys aren't downloading the lastest bios updates... that's why your cards are hot... NEVER USE ATI DRIVERS INCLUDED IN THE BOX!! download drivers from asus.com
Other Thoughts: oc'd 725 gpu & 1120 vRAM paired with an e8400 oc'd to 3.7ghz makes for a result in greatness. WARNING: underestimating this card will leave you hiding in your closet sucking your thumb trying to forget why your mother beat you for not taking good deals...

I don't see the logic in buying a card with crappy cooling unless you intend on trickin the sucker out. (and why buy a TOP when you can get a "normal" card and it should clock as good or better. Mine does... 750Mhz 24/7 for the last 3 months or 720Mhz+ for the past 7 months.

(to those of you who change coolers and the card dies after you changed coolers... make sure you cleaned out that little "hole" on the die, sometimes techs check that for "different" thermal compound.)

Well first off those cooler are very good I'm not sure where the crappy comes in they work great and I can tell you that first hand and second they are one of the cheaper 4850's selling and tops had nothing to do with it. Those coolers are alot bigger than they look and are not louder plus they are heads and shoulders above the original stock coolers. If there's a cooling problem it in the case not the card.

Guess I should ramp the voltage and show you 800Mhz? The VRMs aren't cooled right and the fans have a high failure rate. Unless they changed the specs and included the VRM HS's... It won't last long... idk what ASUS was thinking when they used that cooling method.
*you edited... ;-\*
-EDIT-
ASUS had a limited A2 run on the cooler revision which is what I got. Above the Vapor Chamber is a little heatpipe that helps spread the heat to the copper fins. Its still the single slot cooler, but has that one added feature which allows me to get 49-52C Load Temps.

Well the card is designed to run at those temps and hot or not you should see how the original stocker cooler ran, these run alot cooler and remember I owned this card and the orginal Asus 4850 aswell. If heats a issue then you need better case air flow. Also as far as I know at 800 Mghz thats not what these card were ment to run at for christ sake a 4870 is hot at that speed with a stock cooler ( unless you increase the fan speed). In crossfire there is no need too overclock these card in the first place because they are fast as hell.

Not sure why I would need to see that, i'm well aware of the speeds a 4850 can reach. I'm simply stating those coolers are more than fine for 680/2100 not 800/ 2300 but that's why asus didn't cool the mosfits and power regulators. If they had overclocked the cards higher I'm sure they would have. This is a budget crossfire card set up, with two free games, giving a budget gamer 280 gtx like performance even at stock speeds.

The price went up the day after I bought it, that's a first.. It usually drops by 20$-50$ :laugh: It's 169$ for one card now, which is silly since the 4870's are cheaper.

really, I wouldnt buy a 4850 new for more than $120. They are great cards, but they should be cheaper. Got my 4870 for $110 used.

Ok, time to show you how hot the HD4850 gets.... at STOCK SPEEDS with a Heatsink covering the VRMs and RAM. Also, read the reviews... the fan on the Heatsink fails ALOT. ASUS made a mistake using it.

Its VRMs approach 120C on stock clocks with an Accelero on it. (with the turbo modules).

I guess trt likes to have components that hot inside his PC. Also considering the VRMs failure point is around 110C.

That is odd. The Accelero Twin Turbo seems like a much better cooler. What could be the cause?

Mine only gets to 72c after a two hour UT3 session :D I'd say it's a good deal even at the 135$ it's at now. You can get the XFX 1gb version but I'm at 1920x1080 and I can even run Crysis with everything on high. UT3 just gets dominated along with all the Source games and Call of Duty 4.

All they gotta do is throw a small heatsink on them. That would solve the issue.

I'm not sure why your attacking me these cards are budget cards and work fine , since the price has gone up they are not a deal. I was posting a deal that is no longer a deal since a giant price increase and every one is well aware how hot the 4850 and 4870 cards get with the fan set at default. It has been that way since they were introduced and they work fine at very very high temps. Almost every one of it's original reviews shows heat as a issue, with almost every stock cooler. Now stop with your confrontational banter. Your not bringing any revelation here case in point. http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/powercolor_hd4850/15.htm

(I am not attacking you, I am making an opinion based on what you considered a good deal, I don't like having a fire hazard inside my PC).
yay! A review that used the Model A1 cooler. :roll:
I am using the A2 model (most expensive, only used by ASUS). Others used the A1 and A3 versions.
A1= Vapor Chamber
A2 = Vapor Chamber+Heatpipe
A3= Smaller vapor chamber, more in tune to the size of the core.

okay and your point is what that these are not your cards, yes we know that, they run hotter than yours , yes we know that and now the priced jumped and they aren't worth it anymore give it a break already.
