If you are using the drive strictly for an O/S go with the SSD. For games, get the Velociraptor, but look for a better price.

Velociraptor then. Way more space, and it's plenty fast.

Well out of your selections Velociraptor. But a fast HDD will be plenty speedful and enough for games. Also will save you some cash.

Plenty fast HDD and you get double the space.. Get a second one and Raid 0 them for even more performance. I mean you get 4x the space. Of course it wont be as fast. But it will be fast enough. And even after all that you still end up saving some cash.

I had the same choice to make i went SSD as its new tech so i thought if im going to spend alot on a hard drive then i might aswell get the latest tech and so far its made vista very responsive and absolutely no noise from it games etc load quite a bit faster but i do think it wasnt really worth the cost. I would just get a fast HD(like charper2013 suggested) or velociraptor as vista is made to run with hard disks

30gb for a game HDD is way too small. A Velociraptor will be faster than any other mechanical HDD.

But is it agreeable that a the HDDs I recommended will be plenty fast. I mean Raid 0 is optional and the drives are fast anyways. You get 640GB of space for more games. I mean and you save money. You cant lose.

as a raptor owner i think you would be OK to get one of the new fandangled drive's with 32m cache, get a couple of 'em and make a raid and i think you would be on par with the velociraptor! plus have a couple extra buck's in your pocket ;)

one thing i can say that the raptor/velociraptor have is durability as they classified as enterprise/server drive's IIRC plus they have a window :D

O/P i don't know where you are in Canada (assuming this because of the .ca link) but check out pcvonline.com i get all my stuff from them and they do price matching ;)
