Remember when skype was originally launched? How simple it was to use... and not cluttered with features? (Even though those features serve a purpose and are quite useful).

Vid is going to have to break into a space already well staked-out by skype and others.

To make it exclusive to logitec webcam owners is marketing and PR fail. It should be the other way round. It is free to all to install (and try) and there are EXTRA FEATURES or better resolution or some other such value-add feature that is only available to a webcam owner. That way you make people choose logitec over another brand.

Fire the marketing department for a plan not well thought through.
