well its best to be safe i imagine ud be rathe pissed if you get rid of a working card, can you try another psu? a named brand?

yeah try a better psu, if that fails, the card should be clearly damaged.

but i guess psu 70%...

I don't have any other PSUs on hand and the free ones I manage to find are typically ~300 WATT and single rail (damn OEMs) - I will just try to find someone with a good tower to test it in.

a good psu is never a failed buy, a psu WILL FAIL, the time for it to do could be very long, but it tends to be short when the psu is not branded and cheap. Even if you get yourself a new (branded) psu, and in the end its your card... that psu will be useful is you ever plan to upgrade. so you wont even loose money (just if you plan to never touch a keyboard again ;-D)

But it IS branded - Thermaltake - but I guess their standdards slipped far... =( I will see if I can con a good PSU out of someone as a gift just because I'm cool :ohwell: Shit, a GOOD PSU costs a lot though... *sigh* I will suffer for now and hope a new PSU falls in my lap soon.

even when its branded, after a while, there is ever a chance of failure or degradation.
only the test could show, you sure you cant borrow psu? or test card in equivalent setup?

edit: did you said how long you use your current one? 2-3 years should do the most psu, mine is fucked after 1,5 years right atm

I've had this PSU for like a month and a half at most and the card for nearly a month total.

EDIT: no, I don't have any friends that have modern computers - they are the sorts that are greatful for a Pentium 4 and a low end 256 MB AGP card... It's really sad, but I was like that once before I got SimCity 4 and relized a Pentium 3 just would not cut it anymore and I needed to raise my standards, lol. Like, in 2005 I had a Dell with a P4 @ 3 GHz, then I move to a Pentium D 3 Ghz, and now this build... I'm slowly climbing to the high end range ^_^

how much amperage this psu has?

its shown on the side of it

if your psu is not old, not degraded than its amperage could be too weak, or its surely your card...

i know this problem, have only very few friend with more than socket A hardware or as you said Pentium 4. people like us arent pleased with laggy fps, but they arent able to see it even, just the difference between 20 and 100 fps... man i were lucky if i were that blind

I am running a Phenom 9950 @ 3 GHz atm so the only lag I will ever see for a year at least will bad programming or an overly ambitious game made for a 2012 PC...

Here is my PSU > http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153052 all the specs are listed there.

the 12v rails are a joke, i had 17 ampere and 18 ampere and it was still fucked.. you should at least try to get 20 ampere

your psu is too weak, congratulations! ;)
the phenom 1 does the rest to kill the system, it has a severe power draw of 140watt unoverclocked.... your PSU is waaaaaayyy to low for it,sry

My 380w Antec power supply has 2x16a rails and is rated @ 40C. A realistic operating temperature is ~35C-50C, depending on room temperature. This Tt is rated @ 25C. The ambient temp. would have to be below 60F. Also, Amps * Volts = Watts. 29 * 12 = like 348W? (quickie mental calculation)
The most this should be rated (don't forget -12v) is ~350-400W.)
That being said, it is a nice power supply overall. It powered my 3650 no problem then my 8800GTS 640MB. Poor efficiency.

that should say all, sry for doubleposting

Ugh, everyone else in THIS thread http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=94967 said it would work with the card when I settled on it. :(

wouldnt hurt, especially if you got many harddrives or would like to get some. search you an enermax, coolermaster, ocz, corsair.... these should be good quality and warranty^^

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139004

this should do any hardware you buy, its even core i7 compatible, but it got just one rail..

I don't get gifts for occasions at all... I may as well be friends with Jehova's wittnesses :( like, i have not gotten a gift for x-mas or my b-day for several years, and i'm only 23. The card was a gift from the person I am dating atm, and the sound card/headphones I am using (old 5.1 died last week) are gifts from my bands creative consultant - the rest of the tower i 'bought' by trading off my laptop and Penitum D + mobo for the CPU, mobo, PSU, hard drive, and a DVD burner for this machine.

it sucks... I am not on speaking terms with any of my family and never will be, so i depend on the kindness of my friends and charities to stay afloat... the ecnomy don't help much either.. no jobs, the food banks get less food but have more people every week, all my friends are strapped... it's like things just can't get much worse besides living on the street - I nearly ended up homeless on the 1st, but i managed to scrape rent together in a hurry... :( i hope things imporve.

I agree... I use my computer for everything - keeping in touch with people, watching videos, listening to music, making music, photography, writing... It's my life. A problem with my computer throws everthing into limbo.

you speak truly my friend... the loss of internet, games, simply all multimedia-capabilities... is one of the most severe things that can fuck up your life... only the loss of love, or beloved is harder.

(i hate consoles btw)

edit: i saw you living in nebraska.... in the middle of nowwhere, in one of the most unhuman, sickest nations in the world (that belong to the 1rst world, like industry-nations)

in this case i should be happy, living in Safe,Dumb, easy Germany... i live in a country surrounded by north sea and baltic sea, the second biggest harbor worldwide, in Hamburg is near (so im well supported), the people are foolish yet harmless and the cops are such lazy bastards, they do their job just for the money, catching drunk teenagers and research cases of light violence and vandalism, nearly no one gets busted with drugs, tho theres an adequate interchange present. i confess, im damn lucker, kinda^^ could be much worser

see: http://www.schleswig-holstein.de/ML...r/klimaschutz__landschaft,property=poster.jpg

http://www.haseldorfer-marsch.de/images/flugnsg001.jpg

beautiful isnt it?^^
