So far I am really impressed. I have seen amazing graphics as well as an outstanding and impressive car list.

My favorite part is the fact that they are including the Circuit de la Sarthe, otherwise known as Le Mans. There will also be a few Le Mans cars. And every car has cockpit views.

yeah for all the moaning people do about the power of the 360 they really pushed it this time

its like they took the basic model of forza and improved on it greatly

Yep. As I said before, Forza 2 has some good graphics, but even then Forza 3 has 10x the poly count in the cars, which makes it look amazing. The lighting and reflections are also very well done.

i'm still convinced console makers water-down graphics on initial releases so that 4 years later they can crank them up a bit so the console games look as good as everything else modern. even doing that, it's still enough to blow away the previous generation.

the developers get to squeeze all they can from the machine when they get to use it program for it more

its like in the space between forza 2 development and forza 3 development they will know what it can handle and could better code for it to get more juice

its like launch titles allways looks okay better than last gen but they get to learn how to squeeze more from it

on pcs there is a large choice of hardware so games and programs have to be coded to work on a variety of hardware thus they can run crappy, usually when they have worked with an engine on pc they find out how to tune it for more performance but its not like on a console where its a constant as far as hardware goes

thats why a xbox 360/ps3 can look as good as a mid to high spec pc

ya that makes sense. super fine tuning and optimization leads to better results for sure. i wouldnnt doubt that in games like fm3, it's hard-coded into each track what level of detail to use and what AA and AF the console can handle from track to track, depending on the cars used, what resolution, etc. would make sense to have everything pre-simulated and tuned up so there's a near gaurantee that gameplay will look the best and never fall below 30fps.

Does anyone know the PC equivelent of FM3 and Granny Turismo?

I remember Sega GT for the PC, but that game was just dire. the handling was pathetic, the music was just oh so bad!

donno, i've never once played a racing game on PC, and i do love me some good racing games

There is no real equivalent on PC for this kind of driving game. GTR Evolution, GTL, Live for Speed and rFactor are really good PC race sims but you dont get the eye candy like this game. What you do get is a brutally realistic racing simulation. I always found Forza a little on the arcade side by comparison but that is not to say that I didn't like it.

It is too bad that the only wheel you can use for 360 is the piece of crap Microsoft wheel. If I could use my G25 with the 360 I would have no doubt bought the console by now.

Test Drive Unlimited is the nearest thing, i was just having a play on it.

Race Driver Grid is IMO just pants. i can't get into it, its too arcadey.

test drive unlimited is pants, nothing like a real track racer like forza, grand tourismo is the closest you will get but its old now untill the next one is out

god i hate how gt5 is being promoted as the "messiah" of racing games but its delayed to fuck!

Arcade racing is better for me, like Burnout, i love Burnout.
