TBH it was a nice card but I fancied a change and since I have the 2 rigs now and the Yorkfield rig has only a 550W PSU it made sense to go single GPU, plus I pocketed a tidy profit.

I'm thinking 4850 x2 2gb supposed to be fixed drivers wise but unsure for now. Na baby na the reviews say it sounds like a jet no thx.

confuse about bios gtx260 55mm65or192.216core

hi everyone am little bit confuse about all version of gtx 260 , i got the bfg260maxcore55mm
,i try to find one bios that give me higher volt of 1.12 but i find anything and am not sure if is for the 55mm or the 65mm or the 192core :confused:

. i think my only hope is to use NiBiTor.v5.0 and to set the voltage to 1.18 for better oc if someone got some advice is the most welcome yea am noob it terrible english :rolleyes:

55nm has a different voltage regulator and as such does not support software or indeed BIOS controlled voltage mods.

So your stuck with the voltage you have on that card unless you perform a solder volt mod.

What ever you do, dont flash a non GTX 260 55nm bios to your card, it could cause untold irreversible damage.

So, just a weird question to throw out.. if I lower 3d voltage from 1.19v to say, 1.15v, could I oc shaders higher than 1512? I'm stable at 1512, anyone know a way to hit the next step-1566? I don't think higher v will work.. unless I have wc.

It might, but I think you have just found the limit. I'm using 1.15v and 1566 was as unstable as it was with stock voltage on 3dMark Vantage boat cloth. Cooler card (VRMs) is nice however

Adding voltage doesn't help like you said, I think GTX 280 already has too much to begin with.

You're right, 1.15v is enough for 1512, and 1.01 is enough for idle. Gotta luv rivatuner!
Edit: going to let it fold overnight at 1.15v at full oc and see if it's stable! Fun!

Well, after much more testing, I've found my gtx280 completely stable at 1.00v for 2d and 1.15v for 3d, and that's gaming stable at full 720/1512 oc! I'm now testing 1.14v for gaming, already passed furmark. I wonder why nvidia wants us to pump so much voltage into our cards......
Edit: folding and gaming stable at 1.14v. Currenly folding at 60c with stock cooling! May have to try 1.13v next....

Edit2: folding and gaming stable at 1.13v. Temps are stupid low now! 1.12v next....
Edit3: same as above at now 1.11v. Probably the lowest I can go and still be stable. I think 0.95v should be stable for 2d. Ridiculous stock voltages!

Still folding ect at 1.11v! Temps are 10-20c lower at load now. Was seeing temps as high as 78c while folding before, now low 60s c is common. This is under win7 build 7600 with the latest whql. Going to try the new 190 driver next!

I dont really exist anymore, but you got lucky, am at work and was checking my web e mails and I had an e mail notification from TPU so had to quickly log in to clear that, then I noticed this thread and couldnt resist answering...........

Hey guys,

I want to share my undervolt / overclock / flash experience.

My XFX GTX 280 standard used this config:

old temps:

GPU/Mem was 602/1102 .

''Extra'' (normal 3d is for low 3d demanding apps) voltage was 1.1875v.
''2D'' voltage was 1.11v.

I reduced the ''Extra'' voltage from 1.18v to 1.15v. The 2D went fro 1.11v to 1.06v.
Also I changed the GPU/Shader/Memory speeds from 602/????/1102 to 671/1444/1195 , which is equal to the XFX GTX XXX . Overclock was tested 15 minutes with FurMark stability test @ 1920x1080 with MSAA 16x and Xtreme burning mode on , it passed that test without any trouble and max temperature was 64 degrees.

New config:

idle temps are about 10 degrees lower:

Summary:

Old voltages: ''Extra'' = 1.18v , 2D = 1.11.
New voltages: ''Extra'' 1.15v , 2D= 1.06v

Old clockspeed: GPU/ Shader/ Mem = 602/????/1102
New clockspeed: GPU/ Shader/ Mem = 671/????/1195

I'm curious too, but tbh I'm in no rush to upgrade yet, so if it takes them a bit longer for fit, finish and polish, then have at it. That way when I do upgrade it's that much more worth it, I've had my GTX260 over a year now and it's still kicking ass in games, hell it's the only card aside from my old ATI 9600 Pro to be in my rig for over a year, that alone speaks at how awesome the GTX2xx series is. I'm sure the GTX3xx series will be well worth the wait.

lol, well I was hoping to get :toast:

for a custom title, but I might consider that one too! lol. But that's not necessarily true in my respect taking into account all the S3, ATI, and NV cards I've gone through before, between and after the 9600Pro and before the GTX260

. But I do need to get a custom title figured eventually, I haven't really put much thought to it lol.
