That being said, on with the want to buy

1. 1 GB 4870, preferably with a blower-type stock cooler

is your heart set on a HD4870 1GB? I have a GTX260 Core 216 and is suppose to be better in performance

Well with that Dell 17" in your specs a 4850 512mb is even overkill.

Hopefully one day i'll be able to afford to go to a 21-24 inch 1080 monitor

Not rly dead set but with regards to budget it would be closer to what i have to spend. How much you want to let it go for?
