Should I upgrade my GPU? If so, to what?

In performance a 9800 GX2 is about the same as a OC'ed GTX 260. I actually get better performance out of my XFX Black Edition GTX 260 than my friend with his 9800 GX2, but not by much (average of about 8%, maybe) and they may have to do with the fact I have faster RAM and more Processing power. So an "upgrade" for you is going to start at the $200+ mark and I don't think it is worth it to be honest.

ATI has done some major price cuts recently.. Clearing out their inventory for the dx11 beasts!! So if you dont care for future proofing... an just want one now. You can get a bunch of ati cards on the cheap!! Personally I think its crazy to purchase one right now if you already have a decent card.. With the next major release comming very shortly from both nvid and ati it makes no sense to me... Waste of money in my book when you already have a good card.. WAIT!!!

The laughing mans got a point, looking at your spec's dude all I would really upgrade is your ram... every othe aspect of yours system looks fine..

I though what i'd do is, i would pretend to be one of those deff mutes and sit in a wheel chair and let a cyborg almost mutilate a cop to death...

no.keep your card..9800gx2 is an amazing card...it can handle any games at high settings.....dx11 cards will come after some months...but we dont know the performance difference beween dx10 and dx11....so wait..

Everyone gives me guff for that, but in my computers defense, the RAM O.C. very well and it was on sale for $49.99 Free shipping. That was like $17 difference in price for RAM in the same catagory. I know that is not a good reason, but I was on a budget for my lastest upgrade.

P.S. While I have mostly left the RAM alone, so far at stock voltage of 1.65 I can O.C. it to just over 1450 Mhz. Later this week I am going to set the timing to 8-8-8-24 and clock it at 1600 Mhz, to see if it will pass memtest86+.

I would definitely say don't waste your money at the moment and keep it. Remember there is talk of new direct 11's coming and the games out now don't warrant you getting a better gfx card of what you have now.

I would have to agree with most people and say wait for the dx11 cards...i mean they will be out (rumored) in september. Whats a couple of months?!

Well if you like the ram you have and the $ is burning a hole in your pocket. There are a few options since your like me and just like tinkering.
*A nice new gaming case would be kewl.
*Possibly look into WC.
*Or a stronger PSU might not be a bad idea even though it is not necessary right now it is something that would set you up for what ever you wanted to add in the future.

I would wait as well for the new cards coming.

Yeah I'd spend some money on a good sound card and some Logitech Z5500s.
That would take some heat off the CPU and sound really really sweet.

the 9800 gx2 is just as fast as a 280 gtx or 4870 etc... keep what you have unless you get a 4870x2 or 295 gtx

but on topic,yeah dude hold off, if anything concider water cooling which you could use on your nexted card/cpu (Im not sureif your liquid cooling any f your comp yet. gtg

yea i'm going to have to wait for dx11 cards. i'm getting a delve for a cell phone and with the new activation total is gonna be ike 165, then i gotta support the server box my css clan just bought. not much left of my check

lol so just putting 50-100 in the bank each check till dx11 cards are released.
