Ok so i recently bought demigod and i can not get it to work on my moms computer. The game works perfectly fine on my computer but when i try to run it on my moms for when i go home i cant get it to work. When the game starts i can get through the menu's and everything like that but when the gameplay starts the screen has colored jagged lines all over it.

I have tried different graphics card drivers. I have installed the latest dx9 download from microsoft and the latest microsoft c++ redistributable. I have tried everything i can think of. Does anyone know of something i might be missing?! I am pretty sure it meets the minimum requirements. also, I have not tried any of my other games.

specs:
amd 3700+ single core
1gb ddr ram
7900gt 512mb
antec 500 watt power supply
asus a8n5x motherboard

The graphics card could very well be going bad or there is some sort of driver problem, but you've tried different drivers. Have you checked out the temperatures of the card? Perhaps the cooler could use some new thermal paste.

That could very well be the case. The card is a couple of years old and could just be going bad but if it were going bad i would think it would just not work at all. Hmmm. I am heading back home tonight and ill check the temps to see if that could be a problem.

<--- Is this the spec of your computer or your mothers?

It look as bit underpowered, I do not know Demigod's requirements but you'll be hard pushed to find any games running well on a single core processor and 7900 GT. However the game should still run technically just at lower settings. As for the "colored jagged lines all over it" it would have to be driver related presuming the video card does not have a physical fault with it.

Make sure you have Driver version 190.38 which can be downloaded from:http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

and make sure Demigod game is patched to the latest version too.

haha yea thats my mothers computer. Here is demigods system requirements

Minimum System Requirements
OS: Windows XP SP3/Vista SP1
Processor: AMD Athlon XP 2400+/Pentium 4 @ 2.4 GHz
Memory: 512 MB
Video Memory: 128 MB (nVidia GeForce 6800/Radeon Radeon X1600 128MB)
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
DirectX: 9.0c
Keyboard & Mouse
DVD Rom Drive
Broadband internet connection for Online-Multiplayer

Recommended System Requirements
OS: Windows XP SP3/Vista SP1
Processor: AMD Athlon XP 3000+/Pentium 4 @ 3 GHz
Memory: 1 GB
Video Memory: 256 MB (nVidia GeForce 7600/ATI Radeon x800)
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
DirectX: 9.0c or 10
Keyboard & Mouse
DVD Rom Drive
Broadband internet connection for Online-Multiplayer

So the computer does meet within the requirements. I thought it was a driver problem too. I have tried 3 different drivers from nvidia. I could always go home and try the new 190.38 drivers again but i think im still going to receive the same result. The game is updated to the latest version too. I dont really care that the game runs on crappy settings i just want the game to run haha. Oh the irony.

What is the spec of your system, because you said it plays well on your rig?

Taking a look at Demigod's requirements your mother's rig meets those recommended requirements, but the requirement's at the back of the box tend to be complete lies, I think its the age old story of having old and unsupported hardware is bound to play poorly.

You've attempted numerous drivers with no success the chances are that the video card is dying, I'd test a few other games on your mother's rig and if the "colored jagged lines" appear on those games its most probably a dying card.

Personally, the game is old, the hardware is old, it isn't worth gaming on this rig. I'd just let the issue go.

Your rig is much better, night and day like you said. :)

If my suspicions are correct and the 7900 GT is dying, you can buy a cheap ATI 4670 for $64.99 but expect it to play like crap because of your mum's rigs huge bottlenecks.

Well I went ahead and put new thermal paste on the card and i am reinstalling windows xp, I am hopeing that after this i can get the card to work. I will also check the temps to report them back to you. If all else fails my mom said shes buying a laptop (which she can use for work) and ill just end up building a new computer and use the current one as a backup...the dx11 cards cant come any sooner haha :)

Ok ok...heres the kicker...i installed rivatuner to watch my gpu temps and increase the fan speed to see if that was in issue...it aparently is not because it still reoccurs. Now the big thing this time is that when the screen goes jagged i can alt+tab out of it and then alt+tab back in and it works perfectly i have it happened again while i was playing but i alt+tabbed and went back in and it works fine...now i have been playing for a couple of minutes and the problem hasnt reoccured...anyone know WTF is going on haha?!

No, but this indicates that it isn't a hardware issue but a software or driver issue. I'm all out of ideas for solving this issue.

Edit:

Perhaps, but I wasn't under the impression threadstarter's 7900 GT was overclocked?

He didn't mention it.
