Hi,
So that’s what I have been getting since last evening. No texture/display corruption, just freeze and NVLDDMKM. Had these errors in the past and I fixed them by running the 8800 fan @ 100%. That fix is no longer working. Temperatures (including GPU) are fine and voltages solid.
Time for RMA…:-how many of you guys have had failures with Nvidia 8 series parts?

:banghead:

Note: Card stable in DX9.

EDIT: I have 4GB of XMS2 DHX memory. (2 sticks in dual channel)

I have a 8800GT and not the 8800GTS 320 as mentioned in my System specs.

Updates to Directx apply to the DX9L layer in Vista.

The latest March 2009 hotfix for Directx is already installed on my system. I never miss any updates.

Is your video card overclocked at all?
Even if it's not I would try to downclock the ram and gpu a bit and see if it continues, RMA if that's the issue.

Not overclocked at all.... have to try underclocking.

Why should I do that?

Crysis is the poster boy of DX10 and nothing stresses the PC more.

And Crysis is not known to crash like this in DX10

Well here is the deal, if when you underclock you are missing textures...
Your card is dead, something is failing, no underclock should result in missing textures... Slow FPS yes...

I had the same exact issue with my 4850 clocked to 745/1050, ONLY in Crysis and ONLY in Dx10 would it blow my drivers out, dropped it to 740/1050 and it was solid, I can drop it all the way to 300/500 and I don't miss textures...

This is a high overclocked RAM issue.

Dont overlock too much your RAM or you get this error everytime.

Try to run your system without OC your RAM ( you can leave the rest overclocked no prob ) im pretty sure this error will stop.

System ram is underclocked, GPU core/mem @ factory settings(no oc)

Ram is running @ < stock speeds.

I have 1066 Mhz DDR2; I am running it @ 800Mhz only. :banghead:

I had same problem with my 4890 only in this game with DX10 in the last level, I noticed crysis was using 4.5GB memory and my pagefile was full, tried to underclock the card and it didn't solve the problem, I think it is a game bug

Or buggy DX10 hardware that freezes under heavy DX10 load?

if yours used 4.5GB its no wonder his crashed - he's using a 32 bit OS, and therefore would crash when he hit 4GB.

buggy game will cause same problem too, google this problem you will see it is a common problem with crysis for nvidia/ati users, I would try other games and make sure they run fine

In 32 bit, a problem might occur, but running a 64bit exe in a 64bit OS shouldn't create problems.

Let's see what happens when I get the replacement card next week! Very hopeful that things would improve... :D
