No a core is not a core. Your telling me the Cell CPU has 7 cores?

8 cores with a PPE chip which is also a core - so its technically a 9 core chip with one core serving as an interconnect.

Architecture

While the Cell chip can have a number of different configurations, the basic configuration is a multi-core chip composed of one "Power Processor Element" ("PPE") (sometimes called "Processing Element", or "PE"), and multiple "Synergistic Processing Elements" ("SPE").[26

Each SPE is composed of a "Synergistic Processing Unit", SPU, and a "Memory Flow Controller", MFC (DMA, MMU, and bus interface).[31] An SPE is a RISC processor with 128-bit SIMD organization[27][32][33] for single and double precision instructions.

Don't confuse massive x86 CISC cores as the only possible fit for the term "core"... a RISC core can be tiny, but is still considered a core.

Nvidia on the other hand, is still making a single die GPU. Which IMO is a mistake - the bigger and more complex the assembly gets, the more economical a modular assembly is.

I totally agree with you here... Part of the reason I jumped ship after 10+ years of sitting in the green boat..

Ive seen too many people waste too much money, on gear to try and max out crysis.

It is a hole for your cash from which there is no return.

Don't get me wrong I'm praying for the generation that plays it silky smooth, but really, we've been waiting since were were *promised* SLi 8800GTX's would play maxxed out.

if this new ATi card can play crysis All enthusiast, 8xAA, 16xAF, 1920x1200 or higher at 60fps or more, I WILL buy one, honestly, that's something I really doubt.

Anyone get the feeling that the reason Crysis is so hard to get running smooth at high settings is not because of the hardware, but because of poor unoptimized coding on the programmers side? (Just a thought)

That's the reason...it's pretty well-known. Crysis is best known for being one of the worst optimized games on PC evar!

No, they're not. They really aren't that incredible to me at all. They were kinda cool for the first 10 minutes, then I was left with a crappy game.

Yes I havent seen a game that tops it for looks IMO.

Pity they couldnt make it crack 60 FPS with beefy cards in multi GPU configs.

which really sucks because many many games are 8-9/10 compared to its looks and will play at 100+ fps

We should have taken crysis out back and shot it a long time ago.

when I play crysis I'm like meh, mainly looking at how nice it looks but if the game didn't look as good as it dos, crysis would not even be meh, the story is waaaayyyy to short and the multiplayer is not fun really, I mean its a good concept but its well . . . . . .

Yeah It makes a retarded game but a decent benchmark, but it still remains a mystery to me as to why, cause why does it matter if a crappy piss poor of an excuse of a game runs well in benchmarks, cause in the end it's still a piss poor excuse of a game:shadedshu

idk, maybe it the cryengine that they use, but surely the rest of u noticed that even at 20fps the game feels a lot more smooth than other games at 20fps like say tf2, l4d, css, stalker clear sky. I will say that if any game comes close or is crysis's equal in visuals i'd have to say stalker clear sky and it runs much better on the same hardware than crysis would. I'd have to play crysis warhead again to say it with confidence but i put Stalker CS's graphics right besides crysis's.

Benchmark Scores It does boot up? I think.
and yet you have to admit it's got to be in the 10 worst game plots of all time
In that case, Fallout 3 surely takes the first position 'cause the plot in that game (among other things) is just literally retarded.
What exactly is the problem with Crysis' plot? It's short, sure, but atleast it's not patheticly feeble. And Crysis multiplayer is often more fun than Left 4 Dead because one single moron in L4D will totally ruin the fun, whereas in Crysis even if 10 out of 32 players are morons it doesn't mean nothing to the gameplay, they'll just be cannon fodder.

Actually no there are not when there are mods that can do it better with less of a performance penalty. C.U.D.A.A.T.S and a few others comes to mind.

If the the single die variants only require 1 pcie 6-pin connector then PSU requirements will not be a key focus.

Dunno it's just dumb, no arguments with the Left 4 dead thing I got sick of that after 4 days

Yeah and about the PSU thing I bet it will have about the same requirements card for card as the 4000 series

If I want to stare at something for the visuals and not care about gameplay, I'll buy a movie or a Final Fantasy game, not Crysis.:roll:
