i have my choice of cpu coolers narrowed down to two!! can anyone speak of the performance between the two?

the xigmatek thor's hammer at 65 dollars

I have the Thors Hammer. To be honest, it doesn't really perform that much better than your average Xiggy S1283. Sure the S1283 can't handle as high temps as the Hammer, but only due to latters sheer size. I mean its HUGE. Even with the crossbow kit I'm uncomfortable carrying the rig around.

I have to say, go with the Thermalright option.

Thor's Hammer is the best looking of the bunch, but the TRUE is better in performance.

While you are on the kick of buying a fanless CPU cooler, dont forget to scope out the Megahalems too.

Oh and MRCL is spot on, the Thor is a PITA to install. its really large, especially with dual fans, and it really isnt much better than the standard as he stated.

It comes with wire fan clips for two fans.

yes the Thor, mega, and TRUE can all run dual/push-pull fans.

I have a Scythe Jyuni on my Mega and it seems a pretty good mix of lower noise with sufficient flow.

I have 3 of the Thermalright coolers and their performance is great.Although they are quite heavy and you may need to check if you have enough clearance in your case for one.

Also they can benefit from a good lapping as some of the coolers surfaces are not flat.

I use Zalman zm-f3 fans on mine, not the quietest but good cooling power.
