Odd Crash from Games

Hey,

A mate of mine seems to be getting some odd crashes. The computer boots to Windows fine and stable, but then abit into playing games, it crashes to a black screen with looped sound.

The CPU is at stock, and the cooling is really good.

Spec:
E7200
P5K Premium Black Pearl
4 x 1GB Kingston
Samsung 500GB Green
XFX 9800GTX

I'm going to be out, so i can't reply, but he'll be reading this topic, so can you just post suggestions.

hey people im the guy hes on about what is happening i am able to play css on my computer for about 20 mins and then it freezes and the screen goes black with looped sound were i am forced to manualy reboot my pc and i originaly thaught it was my hdd but this canot be as it alows me to play unreal will try more games and post my progress any help or advice would be much apriciated.... o and please forgive my spelling

Right, im thinking of 2 things:

1. Power supply - what unit and what wattage.

2. The pearl. If its the one I palmed off to moon it could be on its last legs as it was with me.

Is the game left 4 dead? If so it is a common problem on some configurations.

well thats nice to know kyle that means if its mobo ill be kikin pigs arse lol oj and i have a coolermaster psu and i think its 450 wat and its only just started happening so why now ? and i have heard it could be my drivers for my g card could this be true ?

RMA if its in warranty or buy another, if it is the motherboard those are your only options

Just go around to dannys house and headbutt him

Erm Im still thinking power supply - was the unit secondhand when you got it? Could be suffering from brownout.

If its the motherboard, id nip to dannys and do some component testing - see if your PSU will run his system nice and smoothly, then test your RAM, etc etc. If that returns the motherboard at fault, its new board time im afraid

ty kyle mate and i have no idea when dann gets bak your better off asking him but yer i fink soo and it worked perfectly before i went on holoday and god damm :mad:

ill tell you some other problem i have tooo some times it seems to fail to find my hddd in the sata slot as well i think the power suplay is brand new tbh soooo

mine. You could even try and nab a secondhand Maximus off here? Depends on your budget.

you can try upping the NB and SB voltages to get around weird MB issues like this.

rite thers somthing definately wrong now even windows is crashing i cnt do much i had a blue screen and then again it would not find my hdd on the bios or start up lol manged to get it started up again im leaning to wards what kyle is saying now tbh been bak intouch wi the dude i got my xfx from and hes agreed to swap me bak for abit extra cash will try my old card and let you guys know

an asus x48 board, i beleive.

asus gave some of their boards names for no real reason, it was easier when they named them by chipset.

P35 x48 P45 - order of release

x48 is older than P45, but features wise its pretty much the same. x48 has more PCI-E lanes so its the better choice for crossfire.
