I've have had a poll for this before but I'm wondering if people's plans have changed as the PS3 and Wii get closer. Being once a PS2 fan I wasn't actually planning to buy any of the consoles (you may find me insulting the Wii at some point even!) but I have changed my mind. The PS3 just looks to expensive and there is so much technology packed into it I can't help but think it will have problems. As for the Wii, I like the small and simple design and the creative gaming style (which Sony have tried to steal :() and I'm planning to get one of those.

For me a console is just something to play on with friends or when I want to relax a bit and my PC will always be for my hardcore gaming with the latest graphics ect, after all in two years or so even the PS3 will be behind again, maybe not because of a lack of processing power but because the graphics will be dated. Anyway, vote what you own/ plan to buy and post any comments you may have.

Well, right now, I like my PC. In the future, after prices drop, I will get an Xbox 360 (Halo 3) followed by a WII (Metroid).

Working on my PC and getting a Wii.
I might steal my brother's 360 is anything worthwhile comes out for it.
If the PS3 drops below £200 (ha) I might bother, purely for the Final Fantasy series.

You do know Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers is on the Wii? I'm not sure how it will compare to the main series on the PS though. I'm sure that FFXII will eventually come out on other formats anyway (it won't be on the PS3... they're already making XIII for that!).

I didnt actually like crystal chronicles to be honest, so I'm stickin gwith the numbered titles (and maybe another FFT if they come around).
None of the FFVII spinoffs either, theyre all just pissing on my all time favourite game.

I use my PC most of the time atm... I'm planning to get a xbox 360 soon (halo 3 :) ) and I'll probibly end up getting the ps3 for the final fantasy series.

I do like the look of the Wii... looks like a whole hell of a lot of fun, but haven't been that impressed by nintendo recently

I would get a Xbox 360... but I cant stand controllers for FPS games.

If I were to go for a console, it would be the Nintendo Wii for just plain kicking ass, or the Xbox360 for Halo 3 (and yes I do like Halo that much). Otherwise, my PC is kickass. I also think that we could have had Halo 2 on the PC alot sooner if Bungie had accepted that ID software made a better engine then they did (Quake 4) :p.

Wait a sec, you are 20 years old and you have NEVER owned a console?????? For the love of God why not? Get a SNES for Super Metroid and all of the mario's, get a genesis for Sonic, get a N64 for Zelda, get a PS1 for metal gear solid, Get a GameCube for Resident Evil 4 and Zelda Twilight princess. Those games are considered to be the BEST of the BEST (I know Twilight Princess isn't out yet, but it will be the best), and they aren't on PC.

That's another interesting battle... HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray, I would expect some time in the future Sony will be forced to add HD-DVD support if blu-ray loses.

I've had a Playstation 1 & 2 (Had 3 PS2's, The first one burnt out in 3 months, second one in 6, 3rd one I can't remember) One day I took my old, (and rather dead) PS2 out of its box and it miraculously started working again, but the picture quality was a bit grainy because the laser was crapped out so I sold it for £40 while it was still working :p, Gamecube, XBOX, Sega Megadrive, Gameboy Colour. (Yeah, I get around), but NONE can compare to a PC. I have given up on consoles until they are worth buying again. Does PS3 have DX10? I didn't think so..

Wii. Then maybe a Xbox 360 if Microsoft fixes the heating problems and games like Assassin's Creed don't get ported to PC. My PC is reaching its limit in most games now and $400 sounds much better than $800+ on a new PC.

I find that once you have a solid system, you rarely need to do more in an upgrade then replace the mobo/cpu/RAM ($300 if you're good), or GPU ($150-$450, depending on your budget). The rest should hold its own :). Of course, you have to reinstall (or repair) the OS in between swapping mobo/cpu/RAM, but that's really no issue when you see the immense performance gain of Athlon XP to Conroe lol.

If your talking to me, I still have an AGP system. To buy a $300 AGP video card that gets killed by $150 PCI-Express video cards is not a very wise decision IMO. But then again you said a "solid system", so mine doesn't really qualify anymore.

I had a SNES that didn't break, a PS1 which broke... and my PS2 broke after 2 months (started sparking :()

So that's another reason I'm going back to Nintendo. Shame I got rid of my SNES, but I'll never get rid of my original gameboy, it still works 100% and I kept the best games for it! (like tetris!)
