Asus vs MSI

I've got two pc's with:

MSI 875 p neo fisr 2
Intel P4 2,8 northwood
corsair twinx pc 3200LL 2 x 256mb
MSI fx 5600
WDC raptor 37,5G HD

And

Asus P4C800Deluxe
Intel P4 3,2 prescott
corsair twinx pc 3200LL 2 x 512mb
Sapphire radeon X800 pro vivo (unlocked with 16 pipelines and voltmod by ledpencil)

both pc's are overclocked with 225 fsb.
the MSI is running 3,15Ghz, and the Asus is running 3,6Ghz...
both are stable up to this point.

However..... I expected to get more out of the Asus, but after switching cpu's it seems that the MSI are capable of somewhat more overclocking than the Asus.

The Asus is more choosy and gives me the "boot failed due to cpu overclocking" if I try to use other than auto on any of the bios parameters regarding ram.

I think I've tried everything possible with this HW, but I'm not sure.

Anyone have any idea how to tweek more out of the Asus or at least get to set the Ram to 400mhz and stock timings? (which must be better than the auto-everything settings)

sometimes some parts just dont like each other eg soundcard and network card or etc... and they dont work as well together

"Get with the times"....... not an option!
One can never be up to speed with new tech in computer buisness unless you are loaded with money and got enough time to spend with your computer.

The idea of getting new parts are there, but the money is not. And I'm not gonna scrap a perfectly usable mobo. The only option is to build a hole new comp.

By the way, 478 is a classic with the agp8 slot! (my opinion)

However, your'e right about one thing! It's running great at 3,6 with the prescott 3,2. (either mobo's)
Trouble is how to "fine tune" the Asus without getting "boot failed du to...." it seems impossible but there has to be a way.

My anticipation was that the Asus would OC better than the Msi. so far its not even close to deliver the same though they're OC'ed equal.
The Msi is ready to use about 1 minute before the Asus after startup and seems quicker in most tasks.

MSI makes pretty good boards, I own a MSI K7N2G-ILSR, and I have done alot to it, short circuited various bits, PC'd it, removed northbridge fan, and its still pretty stable in 24/7 operation.
Actually MSI makes better motherboards than Asus, although right now, witht he current generation of motherboards, I am not too sure,.

Asus make very good boards, stable too. I cant recommend MSI boards with their current issues however, their K9N Platinum nForce 570 boards for example appear to have real stability issues running a 200*5 HTT link speed, many report having to drop it to 4x and run the HTT at 800MHz. Weather MSI have managed to fix this via a BIOS update is another matter. Issues such as that tend to point toward a PCB revision a little more than a revised BIOS though.

As some of you know, I had that exact board, (a K9N P) for some time. With 2 DOAs, and one living, overheating POS, I got the asus (see my specs) I can say that the Asus, is byfar better, and quite stable compared to the MSI one.
