Anybodys help would be greatfully appreciated for the following problem a friend of mine has with Win 7 Home Premium and trying to install Norton. Following is a description of the problem he is having:

"the laptop had vista on and experienced the bug where it lost the dvd rom in windows, I installed windows 7 from booting of the disk. Now when trying to install Norton it comes up with a message that no windows greater than xp exists on the laptop, and a few other minor glitches.

Forget about installing Norton, and get MS Security Essentials. You will be better off in the long run.

Screw Norton, Worst thing on this planet Earth. Get anything else, I would recommend getting Malware Bytes and let that be that.

I agree - Microsoft security essentials is free and the best AV i've used in quite some time (very small footprint, uses very few resources).

All sorted, ran Norton removal tool just to make sure. laptop now goes like ....... with Microsoft Security Essentials.
