LGA 775 Upgrade?

I have a e5200 at the moment and im thinking on buying an upgrade for my dam socket, because i know that the e5200 is a bottle neck somewhat. Now im very into overclocking, with duals or quads and its getting about winter so my temps are really below now. Im deciding on what to get, whats the best deal, and what would be a good upgrade with these times and this socket.
The processors are:
e8200
q8400
q9400
q6600
x3220
Now im not ganna be so quick in buying and ill probable get it 1-2 months from now

But right now im contemplating on a e8200 at 4.0Ghz 1.3volts with my H50

Go for an E8400, 4.2ghz+ shouldn't be hard with an H50 and the UD3P. I personally love quads, but I would not recommend them to people looking to game or OC higher, the extra 2 cores just put out more heat and limit overclocking

Yeah or put out a WTB ad for a 4.4-4.5ghz e8400/e8500/e8600.

I would suggest the E8400/E8500, maybe have a look for the Xeon i have (E3120) - i got my xeon cheaper than an E8400

Can your motherboard handle 500+ FSB? Then dont get your hopes up for an e8200 running at 4.0Ghz. I did and the best I could get was 480 on an Asus P45 board.

If you want an improvement you'll want a chip with more L2 cache. The e5200 has 2MB and an e8400 has 6MB so more bite for the overclock.

I went from an e8200 to a Q9450 and had a very noticeable change. It did take 1.5V to hit 3.8 stable on the 9450, but it was churning out the overclock.(not sure if the person I sold it to still has it, last I knew he wanted to sell it).

My suggestion is the e8500 for Dual Core and a 9550/9650. The Q8200 has less L2 cache and the same with the 9400 its just a rebrand so Dell can sell a "Quad Core" PC for $200 more at Best Buy.

He even has the same motherboard i also have, but i cant afford anything over like 150 in price and def cant afford anything right now

Just spent my money on a TX750/antec902/corsair H50

Im still eyeing down that e8200 i can pick up in orange county at micro center for 100 bucks new+ ive seen some 4.0ghz 1.3 volts 24/7 over clocks, but there not E0 revision processors so that makes me cry

generally they tend to OC the same, but the xeons do it at lower voltages (meaning, a little bit less heat)

Lower voltages= Less heat= Longer life span. I would care but i would love to have the q6600 run cooler, but the 45nm chips are beast in themselves

agreed - theres no point getting a xeon based 65nm when you could get a 45nm anything.

I upgraded from a Q6600 to my xeon and never looked back - half the power/heat for more performance in most games

however, mines a lot more power efficient and still enough for any game out there.
