The most comfortable viewing size for monitor-on-the-desk poll!

I got a bigger screen last month which is 24", and I found that bigger doesn't mean better.
Watching movies and playing games on my 22" LCD gave me better focus, and I have a better "overall" view.
Since the monitors sat on my desk (typical computer desk), so I'm quite close to them. IMO the best size for monitor on the desk is 22".

What do you think?

So what if you have a bigger(=deeper) desk? I think screensize depends on viewing distance.

Most computer desk, the width is not really long... I think my desk is about 1 feet (maybe 1 meter) width.

24", and I have a fairly standard sized desk.

Although with the keyboard tray that puts me back a little further also. I'd say I sit about 5 feet or so from the monitor. (2' from screen to front of desk, 1' for the keyboard tray, 2' from chair to tray.)

I don't watch any movies on my monitor though...

I voted for 20", My 19" monitor is perfect size for me because I sit real close to it. The only advantage I could see in going to a bigger size is being able to find a higher res. screen.

get a 30" 2560x1600 display for a few days. you'll never go back to anything with lower resolution, you'll even buy a new desk

I voted 28" cos about 18 months ago I bough a ViewSonic VX2835wm 28-inch and I love every moment of gaming/episodes and just general browsing.

I have seen 30" screens in action tho, and they are truly the next level over 1920x1200/1080.

I voted 22". I have an 24" right now, that takes quite the time to get used to. My desk is like 60cm in width, so I sit fairly close, so for that desk 24" is the limit. But I voted 22" because I'm not entirely used to 24" yet. Its da bomb tho.

My desk is my entertainment system, i work from home 1 day per week and that is where i work from, the couch.

But in your case, i voted 20", thats what i use at work and thats what i had before i moved my machine into my living room.

22" is a good standard, and big enough for most tasks. If I am doing some extreme stuff (IE, want to have Word open side by side with Firefox, I really want a 30".

i use a 24", and the viewing distance is only like 2-3ft...and i wish it were bigger! BIGGER!! i would love to have a 30" and see how i like it...
but i do love my 24

If I wall mount, will have just enough room for triple 24". Eyefinity will need to mature a little more before I think about doing that.

2x32 inch monitors hydrad on desk side by side at slight inward angles, lol so it makes kinda the tip of a triangle in the center

I went 37 about 4 1/2 years ago and I will never go backwards..looking forward to a 47 or 50ish next.My monitor is currently almost one foot from arm distance to the monitor.

+1 For sure!

I can comfortably play FPS games on my 42" Plasma for instance at the 6' distance it's at.

Meanwhile my monitor 21.5" is about as big as I'm willing to go for the distance it sits on my desk, lands right around 24" away, sometimes I even lean back so I don't have to move my eyes so much, which puts me closer to 36" away.

I wish I could get a bigger res though... 21.5" I could probably deal with something closer to 2208x1242

For gaming the bigger the better. For work I would choose two smaller instead of one larger.

I could fit a 42 quite comfortably on my downstairs desk.

and about a 70 of my modded desk upstairs

I think 22 is the best size for sitting infront of though.
