Emergency computer build

Hey Techpowerup, some bad news here. My sisters computer died today after an accident in her room and now she needs a new one. She has finals in a few weeks and needs to buy this tonight on short notice. So I have the parts all set up for a 700 dollar build I just need some advice on if this is the best i can get for the money.

She does school projects on this along with music web browsing and photoshop. She doesn't use it for gaming but wants this thing to go FASTT! on the web booting up multitasking etc; here is what I found real fast.

Budget is 700 dollars or less, no monitor or keyboard or mouse needed

ULTRA PSU's are crap. I have seen more RMA'd than actually running in rigs. BTW, ULTRA is TigerDirect/CompUSA's house brand.

Xion chassis are made with very thin steel and lots of plastic on the front. They also aren't as cool as other chassis. I'll suggest two chassis that have side windows and are Elite model chassis. These chassis are made by Cooler Master, and have a good quality without having to spend too much.

i wouldnt get an i5, if she's not gonna oc or play games you could build it for way less with a ddr2 setup, on a quad or dual. ddr3 and an i5 for web browsing is way overkill. also you could get a 400w corsair psu that probly would smoke that cheap junk you picked.(no offense) also, I would get a 9800 basically same as 8800gts.

Thanks for all your input everyone, I think i'm going to change the PSU, but she liked the core i5 so I think im going to stick with that.

i also would by the board and ram seperate. the ram is cheap but has a cas9
you could get the same board and this ram with cas7

this board would also be a cheaper alternative

edit: here is also an alternative for the PSU. i think the 750w is well beyond what you need but it's always good to have a cusion

For $200 less you can pick up this which should be more than enough for your sisters needs. Also with the extra cash you can throw in a SSD which will help to make applications load faster. Total $500 + $22 shipping - $15 mir

Yeah...that motherboard and RAM is way too expensive. If you insist on i5, I would get the cheapest Gigabyte P55 mobo, which sells for about $110 at Micro Center near me. I would also get the cheap ATI 4350 video card that Newegg has for $17 after rebate--there's no reason to spend more than $20 on a video card if she doesn't play games and, even if is a casual gamer, a $20 card gets the job done.
