Advice on RAM upgrade for Asus P5Q

Hi all,

I have a Q6600 on an Asus P5Q motherboard with OCZ PC6400 4GB.

I was initially considering upgrading to i7 and a motherboard and memory to go with it but I couldn't justify spending that much money on an upgrade that I probably wouldn't notice any significant improvement on performance! All I do is a bit of light gaming and net browsing etc! (But I do love having a good, solid, fast system :rolleyes:

)

Anyway, I find memory confusing! I would be afraid that I would go for the wrong type of memory etc!

So any advice would be great!!

i run 8 gigs of g.skill pi 1066 in my p5q, rock solid.

I ran 4gb 1066 OCZ Reapers on a P5Q-E no problem. Even oc'ing was possible. Rock solid. P5Q series are superb boards anyway.

Are these the ones your talking about? Any problems with the "handles" on the top of them? :rolleyes:

Yes, altho the "handles" (heatpipes man :laugh:

) don't form an ellipsoid, but rather like a hook. But they're pretty much the same. And no, no problems at all. Well it depends on your CPU cooler, but my Xiggy S1283 had plenty of space.
