Someone wanna shed some light on this TV?

Hey all,

I was worried about the contrast, among other things... :ohwell:

Seeing as the TV was not what I'm used to researching e.g Samsung & stuff I was wondering if it seemed appealing to you guys...

I never even heard of Conia. And I don't like LCD HDTVs very much either. And the contrast ratio of my (plasma) TV is 2 million (dynamic) and 30000 (natice or something). So the 4000:1 ratio on the one you've linked don't seem that appealing, too.

Conia is an Australian based company operated under Pebble Trading Pty Ltd.
Apart from this, i cannot really say much about them. Personally i'd go with something from Philips or LG as far as LCD's are concerned. For plasma, i'd pick Panasonic or Pioneer (not sure how much they still offer under plasma tech).

What about Samsung 4 plasmas...any good?

My philips PFL8404xxx has Contrast: 80000:1 and 2ms Response Time. If i were you i would pay some more and get someting else. "Philips my be- one with AmbyLight"

Samsung is very good on its LCD's
my 37" 1366x768 have 178 degrees viewing angle with NO COLOR AND BRIGHTNESS DISTORTION..
same as my 17" LCD i'm using right now..

get Panasonic for Plasma
or get Samsung for its LED TV.
those are gorgeous...

it looks fine to me.

the numbers it lists for contrast are static - its not dynamic like many other companies use.

For example, my samsung 24" has 5000:1 contrast dynamic, but its really only 1000:1 - all it really means is that this is an 'older' model without LED backlights yet

178 degree viewing angles and the 'high' response times indicate a non TN film panel, which is good.

it actually seems to be a decent screen to me, the only question is about the brand, and therefore the quality

If you get plasma, triple check the resolution - i've seen tons advertised lately saying "1080p capable" but at a resolution of 1024x768... not even widescreen.

my LCD TV is the same as you Mussels..
the difference is just the size..
mine is 37"
