Have fun with your onboard for some time! Nobody knows when or what Nvidia is going to release. What if the card is horrible and a total flop? You still Nvidia only? I think you're taking a gamble on little to no information.

Nvidia delay due to bad drivers or bad chip?

HD5770 or gtx260 (216 core) ...which is a better ?

What do you use your computer for? In terms of raw performance, the GTX260 is a bit better. If you want a card now I would go for the 5850

Then you most likely wouldn't have the budget for any new Nvidia card coming out. The cards in your price range won't be released untill Summer at the earliest. I would wait until March for Nvidia to release their card, then buy as other cards will be much cheaper then.

I have to agree with mr e here. Way too early to just sell of your main gpu for something that will take a long time to arrive.

if you have CF board i say buy 5770 and when you need more power you can just CF it

His board isn't CrossFire. I say, save your money and suffer with the onboard a while.

you realize subhendu asked about a 5770 and a 260, what must he wait for?

Seems by what erocker said he should just buy the 260 now and be happy over the 5770 right?

He's "nVidia only", but now he's stuck with the "ATI only" IGP for 3 months, lol.

I guess now he'll now "try ATI cards".

If it's cheap enough, definitely. Right now is a transition period for graphics cards ATi has new cards with new features and most of those new features are currently useless. A 5770 has all those current useless features and is a tick slower than a GTX260. If the prices of the two cards are about the same and I don't plan on doing any more GPU upgrades for a while, I'd go with the 5770 as the useless features will have a use somewhat soon. If DX11 and GPGPU features in the future don't appeal to you, GTX260 all the way.

I also think it is no longer necessary to make up in GPU but CPU:nutkick:

Nothing is wrong with either company. I don't see why people act like they are either part of the ATi cult, or the Nvidia cult. Make purchases based on model/performance/features and not brand loyalty. Both ATi and Nvidia make crappy cards and great cards and both have bad business practices(blame capitalism ). The only difference is ATi is getting faster cult enrollment right now since they have the best new cards currently.

Whichever you can find cheaper between the GTX 260(216 shader) or the 5770, will be the better buy.

If one wants to play Batman: Arkham Asylum or Mirror's Edge with PhysX enabled, I'd recommend a GTX 260-216. If one cannot wait to play Dirt 2 or any of the *few* DX11 games, I'd recommend a 5770. For most other games, although there is a small difference in the favor of GTX260-216, the difference is generally unnoticeable.

today i sold my 9800gt to buy fermi

why this much delay...never tried any Ati cards...
Will buy nvidia only...
nvidia is planning to release 2 cards...any idea about specs of those cards ? are they high end types ?? (I am planning to buy something similar to gtx 260 or 280)

Well it's a good thing you did it now just in the nick of time........ To sit and wait!
Man those cards are supposed to be out this march...... Maybe. I think they are set to release right after the second coming of Jesus.

At least that's what it says on Nvidia's Web site.......

Direct quote From Nvidia....

" We here at Nvidia are planning on releasing our new Femi cards right after the second coming of the lord! We did this not for any other reason.... than just too make our heads grow that much bigger! Thank you for waiting! "

Seriously here's the link...... www.Nvidiathewayit'smenttoberebranded.com

Please don't click the link it's not real :)

You know it's not to late... if you really want DX11 now you can always go ATI. Plus it is way more powerful than any GTX 285. Just a suggestion not an argument....only because you just sold your 9800GTX.

too bad that's not supposed to be the high-end card, but GF103 is. But it's still good news, as if they have cards, they are working on drivers right at this moment.

found that they will release high end cards only after 6 months....& they are planning to release 2 mid range cards NOW !
I hope they will release something to beat HD5770 and HD5850

and GF100 Video Cards To Support 32x Anti-Aliasing Mode

http://www.legitreviews.com/news/7029/

Almost undoubtedly it will beat a 5770 and might even beat a 5850. But I doubt it will beat the 5870 that will probably be left for the GF103.

Like others have stated though..... It should have no problem beating it..... They have been working on their cards now for close to 4 months longer. I would expect that. But still it will be interesting to see what comes out and at what price. Because if a GTX 360 costs 700$ and a GTX 380 cost 900$ well then forget that! I don't care how much they beat a 5870 by I will just X-fire or Tri-fire my 5870 for that price. If not quad fire by the time the price drops for the same amount. Then most definitely beat out that performance!

But on the other hand if they can kill that performance of a 5870 and then also beat it on the price end ..... I'm sorry ATI I might just finally have to leave ya!
