Hi guys, I am building a new computer for myself. I have not got much hardware knowledge. I have selected all parts based on the forums research. Big bang for buck been major concern in selection. I really need you to review them. Any feedback will be highly appreciated. Also please tell where can I save or where should I spend more

Thanks in advance.

Purpose: Performance PC/ HD Video Editing/ Multimedia PC.
NO GAMING AT ALL.

Budget: To save as much as I can while not compromising with quality so much.

OC: Yes. Up to safe mode. 3.5Ghz

Platform: WIN 7 Ultimate X64 (I already have it)

Parts Selected

Processor: i7 920

Mobo: Asus P6T

RAM: Corsair 6GB XMS3 1600 Model: TR3X6G 1600C8G

HDD: I already have 1TB Segate SATA HDD. 7200 rpm

GPU: ASUS Radeon HD 4670
Comments: I need HDMI output and1980X1024 true resolution in the end.

PSU: Corsair 650w CMPSU-650TX
Comments: Is that enough or over to run the components mentioned above?

DVD Writer: Liteon
Comments: I’ll upgrade to Blue-Ray writer when prices go down.

PC Case: Gigabyte Setto 1024 AXBS11-CNB
Comments: I don’t wanna spend too much on case at this stage. I’ll upgrade the case later otherwise I really liked Cooler Master HAF 932RC–932M-KKN1-GP.

Monitor: Asus MS246H.
Comments: Anyone knows another good design monitor 2ms response, Res:
1980X1024, HDMI input and with built in TV Tuner at a budget price.

Speakers: Logitech X530 5.1

Webcam: Microsoft LifeCam VX5000

Keypad Mouse: Gigabyte GK-KM7500
Comments: I prefer Ultra Slim Design. I Don’t use hot keys.

The PSU is solid, If you want a good professional end LCD that one is not your best bet, but you will need to spend much more to get the quality your looking for. I would look at NEC if you decide to go for a true professional display.

Not much reason to get windows ultimate over professional except a waste of money.

That power supply is more than enough for your setup. How many hard drives are you planning on running? That's a pretty snazzy monitor. I'm impressed with its 50,000 to 1 contrast ratio... You might save a little bit if you switch your Windows 7 down to premium instead of ultimate. The main difference is that Ultimate adds a bit locker and native support for more languages.

a 550w corsair will do the trick or a 450w modular corsair.

I'd say the Corsair 550w should do fine.

Just out of curiosity:
- considering your needs, why the interest in OCing?
- if you're going to do some HD editing, why do you insist on a resolution that isn't native to 1080p?
Also, the response time for a LCD for your needs is far less important than to a gamer - you'd be better served getting a monitor that has the highest clarity & colour reproduction, with response time a secondary consideration. On that note, most monitors that purport to be 2ms, are really 5ms true, with the 2ms being grey-to-grey..

You could settle for a quality 450 but 550 would be the sweet spot, in case you might wanna game with a powerful card later.

I agree the 450-550 are ideal but be sure to get a modular if possible -the Corsair HX450 or HX520 are really good and you can have a cleaner setup for better airflow when overclocking!

Great. thanks for that. But I wanna use it for watching HD movies n stuff too, n also TV. Can u please recommend a mid range LCD or LED.
For OCing I thought that'll help editing faster. well that's what i have studied from posts. But as I said, i dont kno much abt hardware stuff. Please help selectin right monitor

If I were you, I woudn't stop at 3.5GHz. To to 3.8GHz—that appears to be the i7 920 sweet spot. 1.15-1.20v

looks pretty good.. if your really concerned about money you could go 1156 socket MB w/ Intel Core i5-750.. over 920 and save a good chunk of cash cash... but maybe loose a little in upgradability and just a little speed.. depends on how budget you want it
