My one time was really good.

My 939 board died 2 months before it was out of the 3 yr warranty.
Email them, told them it was OC and that it died. They told me as long as it didn't have burn marks on it, that I could RMA it.
Did the paperwork and sent it all in, they sent me a new board!!
Was easy..!!

Well, the first and second time I RMA'd with them they sent me back my broken board, still broken. The third time was totally different. It was quick, and painless. So, I think it's hit or miss.

I also had TERRIBLE luck with Asus (love the Xonar sound cards though) Every time I tried to deal with customer service it was epic fail.

(I continue to use their stuff as generally its very good)

I have to RMA my current board, it disable's my PCI slots when i install memory in the last 2 banks :(

What I have from Asus so far is that they want me to send my board to a shop so they can send it for an RMA... what is this all about if you guys have done it without the need?

I dunno. I've always sent directly to Asus. I remember when I lived in Lexington KY for a year. Asus had a facility an hour from me in Louisville. They had me send my board there, and it still took 3 weeks to get back. I even offered to drive over and pick it up, which they refused.

I was trying to RMA a Sapphire 4870 and they also asked me to sent it to a shop first. I think it has a lot to do with many RMAs/Returns are due to operator error and theft (trying to return stuff when the user just wants an upgrade)

Sending the item to a shop allows the Main company to use their resources somewhere else and allows the shop to check the item before the main company has to get involved.

Makes sense! Makes me feel like they trying to put me down a bit though, I know for sure the board is faulty due to no fault of my own and the nature of the fault is clearly obvious and not something I could possibly cheat my way in to getting a free upgrade.

My brother did the RMA for me, but it took about 6 or 7 weeks. It was the motherboard I am using now, I don't think they had a 1-800 number so it was a long distance call to them to get the RMA (after 3 times I think they determined it was to be RMA'ed), after that it was in their storage for quite a while, about 3-4 weeks because they said they had a lot to work on.

Hmmm really doesn't sound worth it to be honest, my board is only a pretty cheap and simple one so didn't pay over £45 for it, unless I buy another cheap board I'm not going to have a machine in use untill I get a new board from Asus, but the point being if I buy another board it pretty much defy's the point of RMA'ing my current board.

Don't forget I live in Canada by the way. So it probably takes longer to RMA from here (it was shipped to California).

I don't know if Asus has a UK location.

Well, the first and second time I RMA'd with them they sent me back my broken board, still broken. The third time was totally different. It was quick, and painless. So, I think it's hit or miss.

I had a similar experience in 2007; they sent me two different motherboards, but still broken.

The third RMA Asus put their "specialist" on it, and the board they sent me has been golden.

I sent the first RMA in August, got the last board just before Christmas.
