Hi...since no one had started a topic on the NEW king of air cooling I thought I would start off with something to share with all the AMD guys.

http://www.techreaction.net/2010/01/21/thermalright-venomous-x-return-of-the-king/

This is an AMD specific review of the new cooler. I have used the AM2/AM3 bracket, which now comes with compatibility with Venemous X on the cover. Its the same one which was earlier used with the True rev c.

Here are some with Intel reviews:

After just reading the reviews.

Maybe I'm going crazy but those are nigh on water cooling temps! ( £150 set up)

Impressive indeed.

wow thats just to bad the amd bracket does not have the adjustable pressure bar that makes this heatsink so great. i wonder why. thermalright easily could have made this bar and braket compatible with the amd mopunting holes.

I am quite sure that they will release a version with that, but all I can say as of now is that the bolt down works great for amd...its just a pain to install.

I'm looking to get the venomous x for my new i7 920 rig I'm building oc'ng to 4.Mhz. Could someone confirm I'm ok with using these Yate Loon's for a push/pull. Want to keep a blue theme going here..
Got the P6X58d and g.skills blue ripjaws, also thinking to maybe adding a blue mem cooling fan for the g.skills.. all going into my new antec 1200. It's to bad non of the 5000's ATI card come in blue. ;)

Megas are no joke, and I personally think aesthetically the Mega is a winner over that X.

So are we calling BS and Megatron is still king of the hill.. I'm honestly undecided and could go either way, perhaps go with a proven hsu like megatron, would I be ok as well with that push/pull Yate Loon setup.

from everything ive seen they look very close in design and performance, both have copper pipes and base, with nickle plate, both have a pressure system to increase conductivity (looks like the thermaltake has just a little better design) both have 6 heat pipes, both are almost the same surface area, looks like the slightest of edges goes to thermaltake, but basically they are the same in most ways.. in my opinion, seems like a performance threshold has been reached in air cooling. without dramatic surface area increase (size) or phase change

The VX has the same performace as the True RevC, the only difference is that the added contact pressure gives it a few more Cs

Some guy in here made the great test with the VX mount with the True and got same temps

http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=629296

And to guy above OMG is not Thermaltake! is Thermalright
