This is awesome, just imagine using a cheap old 9800GT to take care of Physics for you while you game with your HD5870 in crossfire or single. Nice work around and it's about time for goodness sakes. :toast:

NVIDIA don't realize they need ATI to make Physics mainstream on top of that, ATI's HD 5870 1GB card beat out NVIDIA's GTX285 both when paired with the 9800GT as PhysX. :laugh:

I'm using my 8600GTO as PhysX with my 2x4870s in Xfire.

People have been doing this for months already. It's great for increasing a Vantage score that hwbot won't accept. I was using 5850's in CrossFire with a 9600GSO for PhysX and it worked great! Too bad I really don't play much of anything with PhysX in it so I took the 9600 out for now.

Of course the 5870 + 9800GT will beat a GTX285 + a 9800GT, the 5870 is a more powerful card. If you disabled PhysX for both the 5870 and GTX285 you would get the same result.

It's like putting a Ferrari and a Toyota Camry in a race but putting a high end stereo in each. The Ferrari is going to win the race.

Today ATI is FTW, since Nvidia always delaying Fermi further and further.

but, the best combination is, using ATI Card as primary GPU, and with little modification in Forceware driver, everybody can using Nvidia Card as Physx.

and that's the best rig that available in the market today.

pity that physX is worthless.

you can run benchmarks that it wont accept (for ATI users) and requires modding/driver hacks to work.

Or you can run a few games and get... well, less benefit than you get in most games by running them in DX10

Are you surprised by this part? The PhysX hack doesn't change the architecture of either card. Of course its going to be faster.

My Second rig are using HD 5870 as primary graphic card and OLD secondhand 8600 GT as Physx card, runs perfectly in many games

Its the hardware physX part i doubt.

I don't see why not. If you can get the 9600 GT for alot cheap than the 9800 then go for it.

I thought Nvidia didn't support Nvidia GPU PhysX when your other video card was a Radeon. When did they start supporting this mode? Or is it a hack?

Nvidia is not interested in guaranteeing PhysX's survival and in disabling it from ATI cards, they've burried PhysX into the ground. I predict one more year than Nvidia's PhysX is no more :laugh:

Why would Nvidia be happy that there is a workaround for this? They are the one's that had disabled this feature it in the first place.

He can easily test whether it is or not.

Mirrors edge , turn physics on.

If it works then flags and stuff will turn up that you can't see AT ALL on ATI cards for some reason *rolls eyes*
