Going back to Air cooling

Some of you may know why I'm going back to air cooling but to those that are unaware why my Typhoon III replacement leaked so I'm done with H2O cooling(I cringe when I look at my checking account after this weekend :eek:

)

Hopefully I can get some new air cooling items and thought I'd share with you what I plan on picking up at this time:

I know there is the thermalright gpu cooler but I'm not sure I'll have room for it plus two 92mm or 1 120mm fan.

What do you all think?

It leaked? Did you find the source of the leak? Did the leak kill anything?

Luckily I noticed the leak when I was topping it off with some water so nothing was on. I played around all weekend with it and found the leak occured from a crack by one of the screws holes used to attach the pump to the res.

Ive been contemplating on putting a small film of plastic and a foam pad on the back of my video card so incase it does decide to spring a leak then i can stop it from flooding my video card.

*EDIT* Tuniq Towers are good cooling as well. i had the standard 120 tower and it cooled GREAT!

many tests place the fenrir ahead of all coolers even the noctua d14, i would link them but i am at work

Yes. I hate to get rid of it all but the last time the res leaked I went almost 2 months without my system and seeing everybody is sold out of them again I'm thinking it's gonna be the same hurry and wait process.

Thank you for the info. One thing I do have to keep in mind is I'm on a AMD setup and I want a heatsink that pulls air from the front so it needs a "amd loving" mounting setup.

That ever cool is a dual 120mm fan setup so you have have push/pull in either direction

do you guys think it is just to great of a risk to water cool? I use a zalman cp9700nt and it does a good job but was looking into this Thermaltake ProWater 850i CL-W0175 , but these horror stories that I read and with my bad luck spells D.I.S.A.S.T.E.R

ive herd Thermaltake watercooling setups are a joke but i dont have any personal experience. If your gonna go water then the best bet is to build your own loop with good parts to fit your needs

My issue is just shit poor luck with the res. I've built many H2O setups and of course it has to be this one component that's being a pain in the ass. Like brandon said it would be best to go out and build your own kit, unless you buy the petra and sidewinder swiftech setups. Building own loop gives you that good feeling in your epen and just kicks ass over those "preconfigured" kits.

Get the Thermalright Vex...best cooler for the size and if size is not an issue then go for the ND -14 from Noctua..

These are the best two by far on any test.

Its better to suck it in, that way you can cool your gpu and throw some cold air on your cpu cooler too. But it depends on the overall airflow current you have chosen.

one thing is that my puter is close to a heat register and when the heat cuts in it is sucking in warm air, come summer it will be sucking in cool a/c air, Ill leave it sucking in as my temps are not that bad, geez cant wait for summer already

Typhoon III would make anyone go back to air :laugh:

why not just get a normal res or even a T line and be done with it ... no leaks :toast:

when it comes to water cooling i have found that K.I.S.S. is the best way to go ...

Back to the matter I can't believe the price on that Titan Fenrir. You talked me into it douglatins :toast:

when it comes to water cooling

a general statement that could lead to any conclusion, good or bad.

i have found

this would mean, I, myself have come to this conclusion

that K.I.S.S. is the best way to go ...

this would be my conclusion, and the motto I follow for my water cooling.

in summation ...
the above said was not a personal attack on you, but more of my rule and how I go about water cooling. not everything revolves around you nor does it always pertain to you, whether its a personal attack or a general statement someone lives by.

now that we have figured that complex piece of literature out, we can get back on topic :wtf:

Nothing like the tuniq tower I had one just before water cooling best thing about that one even if the fan goes out no matter what you are safe and this is not so with water cooling . this is a good choice as the tuniq is really close if not better then a water cooler .
Any thing above that would be the coolermaster V8 or V12 .
