oh and to add, you can see the frames in top left my 5850's get way better frames then that thing with anti on everything maxed..I LOL

I was going to buy Nvidia actually but as I watch this constant marketing crap with "o look the benchmark is much better vs radeon" I think Im gonna go with ATI this time.

this should surprise no one. Honestly dont you think that if nvidia really had a monster of a card that they wouldn't release real benchmarks on the 5000 series release day just to screw over ati? no they didn't and months later we are still getting scattered fake bench marks and have no card to show for it.

Notice how the Unigine benchmark they use is v1.1 where the version in the wild is only 1.0 - looks to me like they may have a nvidia "optimised" version of the benchmark for marketing purposes :shadedshu

which begs the question - what is the point of a benchmark if there are versions specifically optimised for certain manufacturers - shouldn't the benchmark just use the dx API correctly to give an apples to apples comparison of how graphics cards handle the same rendering code?

Unigine have completely lost all credability as an unbiased benchmarking company in my book.

no amd should have opened their pockets and spent more time optimizing games like nvidia did.

the gf100 is looking like a big cup of fail to me in respect to gamers, ever benchmark except that unigine benchmark I have seen so(which is biased since nvidia did it themselves) is a complete dissapointment, 15% faster than a HD5870 is a letdown, because if you OC a HD5870 you can get 15% without much trouble on the core, hell you can get 25% if you really try.

this is not the performance nvidia said it had months ago, it seems to be more of a card made for scientific applications like I don know Larrabee(which failed).

Depends on how well it Folds

Now, I'm not holding out much hope that it will be able to out do dedicated setups with 3 or 4 GPUs (sometimes $500 in cards). But I'd like to see where it places regardless.

on the parts where tessellation is not that widespread, the hd5870 is dead even at stock. The gtx480 is hot and power hungry, whereas the hd5870 can easily pull off 20% overclocks. So the 6 month old card wins it would seem. Quite happy i bought it so long ago now, even though i pity the guys who are holding on for the gtx480 :S

indeed, still it'll be interesting to see how the hd6870 will turn out since that's amd's new architecture. One that'll be orientated around gaming and not trying to be a cpu/gpu Frankenstein that spreads itself too thin. I predict the next 2-3 generations to be amd's turn to reign supreme like nvidia did since the 8 series.

it's unlikely AMD will need to bother, nvidia probably can't even afford to price the gtx480 less than $600 after the huge delays and the yield issues ect.

The only thing that'll drop AMD prices is an AMD refresh imo.

NVIDIA is still keeping the Fermi to themselves. I don't think AMD knows how it will really perform. Fermi will either perform or fail. For Fermi to be profitable for NVIDIA Fermi would need to be at least 50-75% faster than ATI's 5000 series and right now I don't see this happening at all

I just hope ATI drops prices just to keep pressure on NVIDIA on Fermi's launch date.
