Here are my heaven bench runs with my XFX 5870.

First result with default drivers:

Result with 10.2 drivers I believe:

Result with 10.3a drivers (had 4x AA for some reason):

Result with 10.3a drivers and all maxed settings:

Anyone have any idea why this is happening???? Everything is set the same in each run except for the different drivers. I am not sure why the CPU is showing up as running at 3.2GHz in a couple of the runs and then 3.8GHz in the others. It is OC'd to 3.8GHz and has been running stable for over a week. Also, the OC is prime95 and OCCT stable.

Any thoughts? The 5870 is not overclocked. Stock GPU and memory clocks.

Strange, I got a 200 point increase, so did others. I would go back and thoroughly uninstall your drivers then reinstall.

What is the best way to go about completely uninstalling the drivers?

I will also mention that since my mobo has the integrated 4200 graphics I am using the boards graphics to run a second monitor so that my 5870 can concentrate soley on my 30" display.

I will try unhooking the second monitor and just running with my 5870 and see what happens.

Use the ATI CCC driver package to uninstall. It should ask you if you want to install or uninstall. Just pick uninstall, then restart and go into the ATI folder and double click the CCC setup and now install them.

But for me I just install overtop and always have no problm with performance.

Looks like it might be fixed. Not as drastic as some of you are reporting, but after following your guide erocker it is better. Thanks.

Good to hear. I am running the test differently so, that is probally the reason. I'm using the settings for the benchmark thread here: http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=112995

If you want to check to make sure, run at those settings and compare to a similar setup. :toast:
