I'm looking to but a new socket 1366 mobo and have $350 to spend. I have looked at the Rampage 2 Extreme and the EVGA 141-BL-E757-TR. I will be using this new build for gaming. Do you guys recommend any different boards?

Thanks!

What kind of overclocking do you do (mild to extreme) and how many PCI-E slots do you need?

I've never done any overclocking before but i'm want to start :)

as far as PCI-E slots, i only need enough to do SLI if i choose to do so.

Cool. Do you want to spend all of your money on a motherboard? Something like a Gigabyte UD4 or Asus P6T (SLi version) for around $180 will do everything you need and then some. :toast:

You can have it all with the proven Evga X58 SLI LE mb. I have three of them atm in various builds with the 920's...two of them running at 4.5GHz. ;) Those boards have an excellent bios and top notch support.

That would be the one. All your parts will do well...what are you planning for cpu cooling?

I've owned 11 different 1366 boards, including that EVGA board, and all of the Gigabyte lineup. Although Erocker is correct about the "sexiness" factor, I would have to say that I'd chose a Gigabyte UD4 or UD5 over the EVGA. Higher BCLK and just better build quality. Not to mention a better bios, IMHO.

What is your budget for the ram?

i'm wanting to spend around $200 to $250 on RAM if its possible to do so and still get good RAM.

In all honesty, I would'nt get too hung up on ram for the gaming aspect. Any good name brand will do you right in this application. :) I would concentrate more on good cpu cooling.

For myself, I just can't justify the expense of water cooling video cards, especially when the newest generation of cards just blows games out of the water bone stock.

I have not used one, but there is a section in this forum dedicated to people using that unit. I would give those guys a shout for expected results. :)
