Unexplained high GPU usage

Hi, I'm having this weird problem. Rarely, about every month or so, my graphics cards will do something very strange. For about a minute, they will go up and down between 0 and 95% usage. An audible buzzing sound occurs as well, but this sound doesn't occur in games even under full load. The event also occurs typically at around the same time as well, around midnight to 1AM (but I have no programs scheduled to scan/update anything during that time). The normal Windows 7 aero desktop reverts to the "basic" theme, with no transparencies, then reverts back after the event.

Core i7 920 3.8Ghz
GTX 275 SLI (stock clocks)
EVGA X58 Micro ATX
6GB DDR3 Memory
750W PSU
Windows Home Premium
Driver: Nvidia 197.13

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you very much. I was thinking that nobody would know what this was so it's kind of shocking to have it answered within 5 minutes lol. This truly is the place of computer experts.

Oh, one last question, how do I actually stop it? I tried right clicking disable but when I look under "triggers" it says that it's still enabled. Should I delete it? Will that cause any problems?

'triggers' is just how it activates, if you right click and disable, its disabled. the trigger thing is just telling you how it would activate, where it enabled.

Thats why my computer shut down this morning when my display driver stopped working! Yes I still have 196.75 and the are crap! When I fold, I wake up in the next morning and says "your display driver has stopped responding, the driver was succesfully backed up":shadedshu
