HD5770 upgrade from 8800GT worth it?

i am thinking about make upgrade my GFX to a HD5770 i got a 8800GT at moment and maybe save it for PhysX but will the HD5770 be worth it when i game at 1680x1050?

my system can be find under my profil and in my sig in the picture there ^^

i would wait til prices drop then you may be able to afford a 5830, 8800gt at your clocks is VERY fast indeed your games should run fine as it is XD

I don't think it will be that big of an increase in performance, maybe 30% at most? Don't get me wrong the 5770 will handle anything at 16x10 but if you want to see a big performance jupm, I'd suggest waiting a bit more for prices to drop and moving to a 58xx card.

Yeah it is a great buy if you have an extra slot to do crossfire later. 5770 will be fairly underpowered in 6 months I would think. But 5770 crossfire wouldn't. Yeah for low end gaming a single 8800gt is king right now. The average $60-$70 used in the usa. I am not sure of Denmark but that is a damn nice place to live and raise a family I have heard.

But to go from a 9600GT to a HD5770 is a good upgrade yes? (And this also includes an i5 750)

If you're going to spend the loot on a 5830, spend the extra and get a 5850. Reviews everywhere are saying the same thing; this card is the ugly stepchild of the 5xxx generation.

9600GT-5770 is a good step up, yes.

depending on the title, it'll be 50% faster to 100% faster.

5770 is about the speed of a 4870, and i recall one of my 4870's only being slightly slower than my friends 8800GT SLI.

hardware physX isnt worth it, only 15 games (and no modern ones except metro 2033 and batman AA) even use it.

If you want the 5770, buy it but if you can put some extra money into it, buy a 5850, not a 5830.

The nice thing at 1680x1050 will be the ability to really crank up the eye-candy. Given your still very capable C2D you'll see a big jump in FPS and the ability to make the games look better. For $150 or so it would be worth it to me.

5770's are awesome cards, they cost way less than the 5850 (personally I wouldn't bother with the 5830) and they'll give you a very nice performance boost + directx 11
