So me and my dad always get together to watch the world cup every 4 years it's on, and it's become tradition. This year we were talking about going halfsies and getting a nice big 28-30" HD LCD moniter to watch it on. Only issue is we want to get it for my computer and watch the world cup via internet, so I have a couple questions;).

Firstly, (This may be a dumb question but...) will I be required to upgrade my graphics card and power supply in order to power a 28-30" monitor? Also, where is a site that I could watch the world cup in HD if anyone knows? I have no issue paying for the service I just want to make sure there is a site I'll be able to go to, to watch it. Lastly I'd really appreciate some ideas on monitors that I should be looking at, our budget is probably around $300-400. Thanks guys:rockout:.

Graphics card is overkill if you are only watching videos, if your monitor takes its power from the wall (as opposed to the traditional ones which supplies from the psu) then you will be more than fine too.

HD TV tuner card?

I dont know where you can watch the cup on the net, but Im sure you can figure it out with a tuner if nobody shows up with a link to the game.

Graphics card is overkill? Do you mean that my graphics card sucks or it's good enough to do the job sorry I'm not understanding:p

Alright, do you know how much I'd be dishing out for an HD tuner card?

Your graphics card is more than capable, a HD tuner card probably costs about $50-100 but I don't know which one are good.

Hmm, I'm pretty fuzzy on how Tv tuner cards work, like where do they pick up the signal from to broadcast the live tv? And also, why is it not necessary to pay a monthly fee if I am REALLY getting over 100 cable channels and also HD channels (some are different I know, but based on the couple cards I've glanced at). Another thing is that I've noticed that there are some pretty bad reviews on almost every single tuner card on newegg at least, it's like some people can use them some can't, so I was wondering what am I going to require to be able to play this thing straight out of the box?

No monitor takes power from the PSU. What you mean is the pass through in mostly older PSU's. The PSU itself did not power the monitor. I'm actually not sure why that isn't standard anymore, it was quite handy.

Where do you live? Surely you can watch them matches on some channels on TV, no internet needed.

ESPN's World Cup TV schedule includes 10 matches on ABC, 10 on ESPN2 and the remaining 44 on ESPN (in addition to coverage on ESPN360.com, ESPN Mobile TV and nightly replays on ESPN Classic). There will be 40 matches on ESPN Deportes -- with announcers in Portuguese.

only one I could think of if your in the states is www.espn360.com but im not even sure if these r in hd when streamed, haven't watched any in awhile.

And this depends entirely on your internet provider, its free if your provider falls under one of the supported ones. Unavailable if it doesnt.
