Low & High RPM Fans(DBA Level)

Hello i want to start a thread with people's opinions on which are the Best high and low rpm fans with the Lowest DBA Level for your computer.Please state fans which you have personally tested.You can also include links to reviews for low noise fans.

your good intentions have gone to waste, because opinions vary so wildly. ones silent to one guy is a noisy piece of crap to the next guy.

for example, i keep getting told scythe fans are really quiet - but everyone i've ever used had a clicking noise. my housemate cant hear it cause his hearing isnt as good as mine, but it totally makes the fans useless to me.

Anything below 1000rpm is silent for me. Just yesterday I replaced the two front fans for these: http://www.enermax.com/home.php?fn=eng/product_a1_1_1&lv0=4&lv1=16&no=42 They adjust the speed according to the temperature in the case and they look great.

Well i thought of noiseblocker are they any good?i will be giving more emphasis on the flow of the air how its inputed and outputed efficiently and tistributed from inside the case.so i think 800 rpm would be okay.

I base noise on amps. The higher the amps, the louder the fan. 1 amp is usually loud. 0.10 amp is usually near silent. Fans that have rotating blades right next to fixed blades often whine so it doesn't take much amperage for them to get annoyinging (say 0.5 amps) but they are high-flow. I think the highest I currently have are two 120mm Scythes in my server running at .7# amps. The room is a whole lot quieter when it is off but they don't whine so it doesn't bother me. Most fans are between .2 and .3 amps. They're powerful enough to actually serve the intended purpose (move air), aren't loud, and aren't silent.

I bought a Noctua NF-B9 not to long ago and it's super sweet. It's not SILENT (and in my experience there is no such thing as silent moving parts) but very quiet and pushes a fair amount of air.

as long as you use them vertically i cant hear them with my ear right up next to them, however when the lay horizontal they make a racket, there expensive, but if you want quiet i highly recommend 1800 rpm, and if you want even more quiet get the variable speed or 1200 rpm model.. 1800 rpm is advertised as 27 Dba, but i swear its less than 24

I won''t go into details but I do not regret spending the money for this fan. Very smooth motor noise that you can only hear if at full speed and put your ear right next to the hub. Seriously, it looks nicer than I expected from pictures, makes you feel like you got something that''s of superb quality and class.

Amazing quality on this fan. Sleeved which makes it even better. Rubber all around the edges even where the screws go in help with vibration dampening. Looks awsome fan. Only con is price and no color leds. They get very expensive when you have a tower case with 8 fans x 23 bucks each. Wish could get discount for large batches.

This fan moves a lot of air, but does have a slight hum to it. It''s probably not as quiet as I would have hoped, but it does move enough air to keep things cool. Mounting system is weird. The section the screws go into is all rubber. Which is great for reducing structure borne noise caused by vibration. But, you can''t make the screws tight if you are mounting them through a case wall. I put in some long machine screws with small washers and nuts to hold them in place. I don''t think they would fall off, but I just don''t get a warm fuzzy that you really can''t make them tight.

I was very pleased with this fan. Quiet, moves a lot of air, and the rubber framing makes for an easy install job. With that said, if price is a concern for you, I don''t know if this does the job so far beyond a Scythe fan that it''s worth buying. If you don''t care about the 8 bucks, then get this. The combination of low-noise and high air-flow is as good as it gets.
