Universal Music Group sues MySpace for copyright infringement

Universal Music Group is suing MySpace for copyright violations. Universal claims that MySpace "looked the other way" when users posted music videos owned by Universal. Said users then allegedly share these videos with their friends, further infringing copyrights.

MySpace representatives had this to say-

MySpace provides an extraordinary promotion platform for artists--from major labels to independent acts--while respecting their copyrights. We have been keeping UMG closely apprised of our industry-leading efforts to protect creators' rights, and it's unfortunate they decided to file this unnecessary...litigation.

Universal is one of the most aggressive companies when it comes to protecting their copyrights. They have recently sued Grouper and Bolt.com for similar reasons.

i guess they also looked away while kids were bing molested....

seriusly, myspace and face book and all those other ones are scum baths.. the only people who have a profile in one of them is eather an emo or a petophile...

Facebook is unbelievably nice. Its designed well, not full of spam, private profiles, and is somewhat a closed enviroment.. allowing you to keep in better touch with your friends...

Myspace however... can rot in hell for all I care. It was designed by monkeys on crack and is full of 10 year olds.

I hope the lawsuit brings myspace to its knees and forces it to crumble.

Stupid 10 year olds.

Facebook is infinitely better than Myspace. Myspace seriously is the biggest hack together project I've ever seen in my life. You spend more time viewing error messages, than you do actual content on that site. It's beyond me how it's gained so much popularity and it's definitely only a matter of time till it's killer shows up. That age group has exactly zero loyalty and will absolutely move on to the next big thing.
