I need a hack. I think this would be awesome:

Add to the right click context menu of a desktop shortcut, the ability to uninstall the program. - Right from there !!

See.. I told you it would be awesome. LOL

I think this is badly needed and could be so very useful.

Any ideas on how this could be done?

I dont think it would be wise. Cat on a lappy, kid gets a hold of the mouse...a few clicks...BAM who knows what just got cut;)

I'm willing to take that risk.. and yes, i do have a cat that loves my keyboard.. but If it's done right perhaps with a conformation dialog box, I think it would be safe.

I'm with John here: let the user decide for themselves the pros and cons of such a feature and if they want to have it.

Yes, this kind of thing is certainly doable and if you google for it, you might just find it. Or you might find a general framework function that allows you to customise the context menu the way that you want.

I found a program called Right Click Extender Version 2 by The Windows Club, it has lots of cool things but not that one..
