To me, it looks solid. But, that's without knowing what your going to do with the system.. to me it feels gaming/lan.. But, I can be wrong and it a foul ball some times.. lol

yes it will be for gaming mostly. I tried to leave room for future upgrades like more RAM and another GPU to run in crossfire. Another thing I plan on doing is streaming hd movies from it to my htpc which I'm sure won't be a problem.

Yeah, you should have no problem with that system doing anything like that.. I would suggest, seeing if there is a case from "sneekypeet" that you might like. He doesn't have the one your looking at, but something you might like to check on.

Some reviews have stated that the Coolermaster N520 is better at cooling than the V8. Presumably because it has 2 fans and it has copper in it whereas the V8 doesn't...

The V10 is an excellent cooler, and is in the same family as the V8.

I would skip on a 2gb 5870 (from the above build) and try and find 2x 5850's for $500 (shouldn't be hard). Also to save a bit go with an 890GX mobo, the 8x vs 16x just really isn't an issue. Then pick up some slightly faster RAM with the money saved on the mobo.

please make sure you get a 5850 that is a reference design cause later on when you do decide to OC, you will be able to change the voltage without any hard mods

i agree with most of the above , if gaming is what you do on your system then get an AMD quadcore ( sixcore is a complete waste for gaming ) and spend the money saved a 5870 vapor x, together it will outperform the core i7 build in games without any doubt. Also with the money saved you can add a asus xonar soundcard, top systems require top soundquality.

That's actually a 1GB 5870. :D

I would go with this build instead.

1500 and 4GB ram? tsk tsk, shame

id definitely take a 6gb 920 system, for gaming the 920/930 will beet the thuban, but if your on a budget than id get the 200 dollar thuban (also IMO the 10$ more for the 930 over 920 not worth it, unless your watercooling or somthing

also your cooler, IMO i would stay away from the V8/V10, id go with something like prolimatec(has better mounting design can't go wrong), or any other of the designs that look similar to it (some are cheaper)

It's not like Windows 7 64-bit needs more than 4GB of RAM. When I run games the most I've seen is 3.25GB of RAM consumed.

yeah but two years ago people were saying there was no need for more than 2gb of ram, so if hes going to plan on keeping it more than a few years he should plan for 6 or 8

especially now that windows 7 has broken down the 3-4 gb barrier, im sure well start seeing programs within a year taking advantage of as much ram as they can

Mind telling me why he cant toss in another 4GB in the future when he feels he needs it and it's cheaper. He has over $100 of his 1500 budget so he can do it now but it'd be a dumbass move to do so.

Wow you might want to browse my for-sale thread. Some of this stuff is overpriced.
