Guys,

I have this second rig of mine. Im using it to fold and crunch 24/7. I was wondering whether the PSU I currently have is sufficient enough for this build. Further I have had no BSODs or system lockups due to PSU. Just that the PSU runs very hot. The entire top of the case underneath which the PSU is mounted becomes a lil more than warm. My rig specs are -

Mobo : Asus P6T6 WS Revolution
CPU: i7 920 @ 3.8GHz
RAM: 4GB Kingston Hyperx DDR3 SDRAM
HDD: 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm
Video Cards: 6x 9800GT
No mouse, KB and Optical Drive

Current PSU: Corsair TX850W

Suggestions guys!!
:)

wow that thing will need some sirious power, id start looking in the 1000 - 1200 watt range.

i think the 9800gt's pull somewhere close to 120watts so your looking at 700watts from just those.

nother 150? from the cpu.... maybe 80 from everything else.

i can see this rig easily peaking at 1000watts FULL LOAD.

A quality 1000W PSU would do better at load, especially with heat and efficiency.

Perhaps an Energmax Revolution 1050W or a Corsair 1000W.

How about a Silverstone Strider?

Silverstone Strider is good but some might recommend a more known decent brand like Corsair, Antec and such

my PSU is a silverstone strider and its a good one, only not popular(its popular in Asian countries). It does the job for me. no problems whatsoever :D

Let's see.
6x9800GT=500W.
1x i7 920@3.8GHz +MB + MEM + HDD=235W

You can run it on your Corsair but on long term I'd look for a 1kW unit. Wait (if you can) a little for newest Corsair or Seasonic in that range.

Oh Rocker bro,

These 9800GT s are green powered Zotacs that draw power from the mobo.

yeah those numbers seem fairly close,

it would infact peak over 900-1000watts or more if you really worked those GFX cards. if furmark was run on all 6 gpus and linpack on cpu.

a PSU with a constant rating around the 1000-1200 mark will be your best bet.

pick any decent brand, Seasonic Corair, Antec, silverstone.

just make sure you read a full review on the powersupply before you buy it. preferbly one where they test it past its max rated watts.

300$ for the AX1200 is a bargain really, and did you see the review? wow!

I think that the AX1200 would last you a very long time with a lot of room for upgrades if you'd like

but buying from Dubai and from the USA are 2 different things...

fun fact about Dubai: English is 1st language, French is 2nd, 3rd is Arabic... Yet it is the most important city of UAE  I just learned that yesterday from my friend, she lived over there for quite a bit
