As a lowly four-star poster, I ought not to be posting on this long-forgotten thread. I was a site visitor for years and then an infrequent poster.

However, as a cosmologist I really like stars. Yes, a black hole will eat your stars.

Matter that falls onto a black hole can form an external accretion disk heated by friction, forming quasars, some of the brightest objects in the universe.
