Add in all the options and this 18" beast can cost you $10000! Oh and it only comes with a puny 4 cell battery and no Wi-Fi as standard...

What do you think of the looks?

Keyboard area itself looks nice, but the thing as a whole is kinda disgusting.

Good performance, but nonexistant mobility lol.

Good Desktop replacement for needing to travel tho. I already carry 2 laptops as is, so I could understand a market.

MXM GPU's is the real bonus though.

The review is very negative about this laptop. Apart from the ridiculous price, I dunno if this laptop is bad at all and I don't agree with the negative sentiment.

Sure, everything comes as an extra, but that just allows you to tailor the features and cost to your needs.

Also, the silly battery life. This laptop is designed to replace a desktop for high performance gaming and it's physically very large, so why would it matter that the battery runs out in 5 minutes? Surely no one in their right mind expects to use it away from the mains anyway? Heck, a laptop like this could even reasonably be designed for mains only!

Oh and it looks nice. Nothing wrong with the wedge shape. :D

A lappy like that would stay at home plug into the mains.

The 4-cell battery is more like a UPS. All it's meant to do is let you carry it from one part of your office to another while staying on. :D

I thought that's what desktops were for...

Well this is meant to be a mobile workstation, not a gaming laptop. So, extremely powerful for CAD, 3D Rendering, engineers, architects, video editing. It is more geared towards people that need all that power, but travel often for business, and the laptop will either be plugged in at the hotel, or plugged in at whatever office they go to and present their work. It isn't meant for college students to bring to class, it isn't meant for teenagers that want to sit on the couch and surf the net, there are other laptops suited better for those purposes.

Oh, and $10,000 for a X8100 is nothing, the D900F they offer can easily hit $15,000.

I wouldn't buy it because it wouldn't let me watch pr0n a movie on a plane/train.

uhm...definitely wouldn't buy it.

Oh, and $10,000 for a X8100 is nothing, the D900F they offer can easily hit $15,000.

Yes, but the X8100 as a barebone is more expensive than the D900F. The base price D900F is like 200€ less than the X8100 here. Not that it matters much after you start choosing hardware to put in that thing.
But yeah, AutoCAD and that it's an ok laptop. But only just for that.
