Me and my friends plan to protest against them near their building due to expensive prices for average users. demanding them to lower their prices.

we will be chanting anti-nvidia and ati slogans.

if anyone would like to join, let me know :).

I hope these arrogant profiting gluttons come to their senses and give up to the demands of their mainstream customers.

Get a job. How is paying $150 for HD 5770 (that lets average users play everything at average resolutions and settings) expensive?

Mainstream customers would more than likely be using midrange GPU's, which are fairly priced in such a competitive market.... is there something I'm missing here?

EDIT:
I hope these arrogant profiting gluttons come to their senses
Isnt profit the aim of the game as a company?

+1

The prices are really great compared to last year. There is no reason to protest. You and your friends will just make a fool of yourselves.

Making a slow GPU and price it lower isnt a big thing. but making a fast GPU and price it lower is a big thing. which both ATI and Nvidia failed to do so.

but im hoping with our pressure they will be forced to do that.

They will never do so, and that's not a bad thing. They're corporations, not charity trusts.

You make no sense. Why would either company make a premium product (a fast gpu, 480GTX/5870 etc) and price it lower to the same price point as say, a 465GTX or a 5770???

And theres no way a bunch of guys sitting outside thier headquarters are going to be able to pressure a millian-dollar multinational company into reducing prices on what puts money in thier wallets. Sorry to say it, but its pointless.

it doesnt have anything to do with charity trusts. if they want to do it, they can.

if we peacefully demonstrate and protest they will have to listen to us :).

and unfortunately the prices are higher in this generation than the last ones.

Yeah, they will probably listen....a little. But I'll bet my rig that they are not going to reduce the global prices of thier products.

Anyway, its the board partners and retailers who set the price of the card, not necessarily nVidia or ATI. They just set a 'recommended' retail price....... right??

i hope so. i will get a petition and ask people to sign it and send it to them.

I am hoping that they reduced their top end cards to at least $120 USD. like 5970 and 480.

thats my goal.

I'm going to stop your petition for the sake of all GTX 480 and HD 5970 owners. I paid almost $1500 on my 5970s. If you get it down to $120, i'll only be able to sell both for like $200.

On a serious note: Thats never going to happen. So stop dreaming. :shadedshu

Explain how ENTHUSIASTS are bleeding the scene?? Unless I'm missing something crucial here, I think you've gone barmy.

Answer this..... How do you expect a company to maintain themselves (any company, not just ati/nvidia) as a company if they are not making money?

If you're a proud low-end gamer, then why are you whinging? Keep to your low end card, and we will spend whatever money we want on high end equipment.

No they cannot.
AMD and nVidia are publicly traded corporations, and by law they must maximize profit for their share-holders.

You are basically asking them to not do what they are liable to do.
We are living in a capitalist system, and like it or not this is the way it works.

wow this guy really has lost it......

how much do you think it costs to make a video card such as a GTX480 / 495.....

i guess you think it really costs them $20 or less to slap on some black bits, slab of metal and a fan.

you do realise there is over 3 BILLION transisters ( thats over 3,000,000,000 ) inside that 1 chip.
the chip (gpu die) is approximately 530mm2. thats smaller then a chocolate freddo frog.

do you have any idea the scale of that? the costs of the machines, reserchers, power and water, land, marketing/ad campains, repairs, all the staff combined.......... ( you get paid ALOT!!! if your a computer hardware engineer.

creating a video card is not cheap.

note: 1 billion could mean either
3,000,000,000
3,000,000,000,000
it depends where you live.

What you are trying to do is a waste of time you could work or if you already have a job do overtime to get the card you want.
