Microsoft Allegedly Rededicated to PC Gaming… Again

guys check this out :

Forgive us for being a bit cynical about this one, but it’s kind of hard not to be. After demonstrating a commitment to the PC platform about as solid as that of a friend who’s only hanging around with you because he wants to “get acquainted with” your attractive sister, we’re having some trouble accepting Microsoft’s latest “Hey, wanna hang out?” at face value. In an internal Q&A document leaked by Kotaku, Microsoft was asked about Fable 3 and whether or not the formerly Xbox-exclusive fantasy jaunt signaled “a larger reinvestment by Microsoft in PC gaming.”

“In terms of revenue, Windows is far and away the largest gaming platform in the world, so it's an incredibly important part of Microsoft's business. From core games like Fable III to casual, social and Facebook titles, more gaming happens on Windows than anywhere else,” the software giant said in response.

“Windows 7 is a world-class gaming platform, and you can bet Microsoft has a vested interest in using it as a platform for amazing first party content. Fable III on Windows as well as Xbox 360 this holiday is a great first step, and we'll have more news for you later this summer.”

Our best guess? After backing off because it got burned, Microsoft’s testing the PC gaming waters yet again -- and Fable III’s the thermometer, basically. Obviously, the PC’s way too big for Microsoft to continue to neglect, and with its recent Kinection to casual gaming, you can bet those “casual, social, and Facebook titles” are a major area of interest for the sadly console-centric behemoth. The long and short of it? Thar’s gold in them thar hills, and Microsoft wants a few nuggets for itself. Here’s hoping us not-so-casual gamers continue to benefit from the gold rush as well.

what do you think ? do you trust ms will be support us again ?

Ya when the XB360 came out they dropped gaming sales, and then when Vista came about they continued to downplay PC gaming, and then in event of games for windows scam not working. Now that Win 7 is awesome and XB360 sales are sliding, they gonna promote PC gaming till their next console comes about. Sorry cant trust them.

They have in the past put out a few surprisingly good titles... Always wondered what percentage were developed completely out of house, or they simply bought the rights to something that looked promising.

With the XBox, they needed to recoup many investments, perhaps they've done that and feel the cash cow is no longer increasing it's milk production, so like all attention deficit companies, they are jumping over to another pasture.

yeah, I'm not trust it either but i really hope this time MS will do it right just like the old days, when they release awesome and innovative game

man i miss those old days when I'm playing AoE series, rise of nation, MS Flight Simulator, mechwarior, but right now MS shut them off, I'm really angry when they shut of BigHuge game, and said there are no more MS Flight Simulator

Microsoft Studios used to be very popular with Age of Empires franchise (why no Age of Mythology 2 !?) and later Mechwarrior series (MW3 rocked). I also wouldn't mind Project Gotham Racing (PGR) to hit PC someday (hopefully).

Did they really pull the plug on Flight Simulator?

Microsoft? The same company that invented Games for Windows, which proved to be more of a hindrance than a help due to lack of support? The same company that encouraged us to upgrade to DirectX 10 and failed to produce the goods? The same company that confines us to console ports, despite their success in marketing Windows 7? As Kreij said, I'll believe it when I see it, but bringing another console title to the pc platform does not in any way make up for the company's years of neglect.

yes they do, and MS FSX was the last game, thats why I'm so pissed, because MS flight sim was the most accurate thing, and it even used to train people how to flight real plane, its just like GrandTourismo for sony

they are trolling again!

Here is what is going to happen.

Fable 3 comes out - I dont want to buy that dam game.

People are going to torrent it.

There thermometer is going to say GTFO were going to get ripped.

There going to stop again. Simple as that.

Dam Halo 3 for the PC will be a change for the game, Would be beast to play if ported right.

Gears of War PC was hell fun in the right servers. Beast at that game, but it was torrented so much and ripped, same with halo 2. That I remember reading the comment of epic+ Microsoft just saying there not going to make gears of war 2 and stop supporting because of all the torrenting.

Oh well...

are you sure ? MS used to be my favorite game developer/publisher, and they used to release great innovative game, and I'm still remember playing an odd RTS that you can build your own unit, with animal DNA and you can actually create anything, also all of their RTS is great (especially the AoE, rise of nation series).

X-plane still exists for flight sim lovers and its FAA approved for training pilots.

i have tried it, and it doesn't have the feeling that MS FS have :(,

Halo 2 especially was torrented due to the Windows XP release only available through that channel. It would've been something if Halo 2 was actually Vista only for a legitimate reason (ie DX10 support), but the fact that it was running on XP in a matter of weeks after release just shot Microsoft's credit down the tubes. To make it worse, now Bungie doesn't want to release Halo 3 on PC because of the Halo 2 sales record. In all honesty, when you release a game for Vista only, at the same time as the height of the Vista bashing parade, you should expect poor sales and lots of torrenting (especially when XP support gets hacked in).

It is a shame, because if Bungie would release Halo 3 for XP/Vista/7, they would make some good sales. They'd do even better if they included the ODST campaign and all the DLC maps for multiplayer.

Microsoft did make good games in those days, yes, but now that the Xbox is last week and windows 7 is brand-new, I don't trust them.
