Guild Wars Platinum thread

I picked up the platinum edition for 10.00 at a local book store. It includes the original and Eyes of the North. I will post some screen shot as I go through the game. This will refresh your memory on how good this 5 year old game egine can look. If you want to play let me know for 10.00 it some serious entertainment. Guild Wars 2 in not supposed to come out until the end of 2010 and they are still going to support Guild Wars so it's money well spent. Guild Wars still looks great and is fun as heck.

First one to tell me my Ranger has a tight ass is dead!!!!

dont you get to control multiple people in one of the expansions? have you tested it out yet?

just curious if they work well and actually kill stuff

I've beaten all 3 games and EOTN with Heroes/Henchmen..... U can arm them with any weapons u want and they will do a decent job of attacking and healing

It is allot of fun. I'm just figuring it out right now. I haven't played my original Factions for several years so this is all new to me. Also, did you beat Eyes of the North aswell.

Its abit older then 3 years, Think 2004/05 and you'll be on the right track ^^

But well worth it, even if its just a casual 2nd game for the holidays.

lol 3 years old? my character was 5 last month

but yeah brilliant game looks wise for it's age (especially places in EoTN). lore and art behind it is pretty fab (they have a book coming out next month =)

My main char Is Alienisgod. If u need some help thru any of the games shoot me a pm and ill be glad to do some missions with u. Or u can add my Xfire if u want. My character is a Warrior and i change my secondary all the time. http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page a good site for different builds once u get to lvl 20. I mainly use it for farms like totem axe farm or destroyer core farms ( think they nerfed that one tho)

The first campaign looks good, wait till you get into EOTN.. scenes look even better.

The npc 'heroes' not the town npc is the only one that can be controlled.. and that control is limited to letting the companion know what skill to use.. and place rally points if you want if to move somewhere. Other than that, they just follow you around and attack anything based on their aggresiveness (which is also commandable)

You also might get a 'download map on first load'. In such a case, you can pre download ALL maps in your machine instead of downloading them whenever its your first time in the map..

Just add -image on the shortcut after GW.exe.

I bought mine at Half Priced books a discount book store in Cincinnati.

what are you going to choose for your secondary on that ranger? i use to have a ranger elem. didnt ever get him very high but in a group of people it was fun AOEing everything

Ive been playing guild wars for over 2 years & I have to say, even though you picked up the platinum package dirt cheap, unfortunately most of the player base have already gone south with more & more going the same direction everyday. thats not to say that there WONT be any body playing, but due to the lack of players getting into a human team for difficult missions will be harder (as there arent any other players around to join up with) & most players that are there are probably there to gain titles or whatever so probably wont be as helpful as others who actually might need the mission instead of coming back to do it a second time in hardmode (you'l learn about all this stuff as you go on)

so not to put you off the game or anything - I love the game, especially the PvP side of it but basicly what im trying to say is "you missed the boat"

I still play, but ive recently been having issues with internets so havent been on as much as id like to.

For ten dollars who cares if you play with others use the henchmen and the adventures are tailored for the group anyways.

Example all the names in blue are real players near me in this area, doesn't look empty to me..

I was not made aware that you had played the game previously. as for servers - if your american its fine - but for most non-american servers its pretty much dead - the Euro/English server is not too bad - there are still active players but unfortunately 80% of the time no players in mission areas or at least ones that arent title farming and there are a small handfull of missions that arent to hero & hench friendly as you have to split the team up - which isnt impossible to do, but it makes the mission more difficult as heros & henchmen will never be as good as human players.
