I just got my first 1090T back up with the help of a xhair IV and it's running happily at 4gig. It's a beautiful board but I have a bunch of DDR2 800 and 1066 mems that i would like to use. With the last build I used DDR3 1600 cas 9 and if I were to do that again it would probably be at least $200 - more like $250 I think. Of course there's no gun to my head as far as that goes so I could go with slower DDR3 and it would still be faster and cheaper. On the other hand, you can't beat free.
So here are the questions
1. does it make sense to put a chip like that in a system with ddr2 memory?
2. if so, what is the best oc'ing m/b for the job.
I don't need the next rig to get up to 4gig. I'd be very happy with 3.8 for example. And I would almost certainly follow the same approach of a high multiplier and as little extra voltage as I can get away with.
thanks.
