From what i have read, the 768MB GTX460 competes with the HD5830, I have read about 20 damn reviews on the 768MB version, depending on which review you read either can beat each other! I would say that the majority (just about) have the 5830 ahead, if that was the case, I might be tempted to go with this.........

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/5020944/art/pixmania/radeon-hd-5830-1-gb-gddr5.html

+1

Also depends on the game being played. One thing for sure the 5830 runs cooler and isn't as power hungry as the GTX 460.

Tatty_One's £133 5830 seems like an excellent deal to me. Something to seriously consider...

Ummmm Thats a UK site @ £133 ;)

the one linked is £133 and the palit is £149..

Nope, Pixmania charge delivery £7.40 so its really £140.40 for the Palit 5830. Spend £10 more and get the faster card (GTX 460 768 MB) from eBuyer and take advantage of the free delivery.

The HD5830 is the better buy if you don't care about PhysX. :)

Good point there on the delivery charge and I agree in possibly most (or at least many) things the 768 460 is quicker, however I would hazard a guess that when both cards are overclocked we might see a slightly different picture, purely due to the bus limitations of the 460 768MB, not entirely sure on that one though, couple with that the fact that the Op likes efficiency then I offered up the 5830 for consideration..... if I was buying I would probably go for the 460 myself, just personally not in 768MB guise.

Ohhh and his budget is £140 :)
